Over onze samenwerking met Hollywood

Hollywood Actor’s Showcase en Richie’s Acting Workshop is een van de bekendste, meest invloedrijke acteerscholen in de Verenigde Staten. Na 30 jaar opleidingen te verzorgen voor zowel aspirerende acteurs als Hollywoodsterren (waaronder Scarlett Johansson en Drew Barrymore), heeft ze vorig jaar de handen in elkaar geslagen met het Belgische Badass Intensive Acting Studios om Europees uit te breiden. Het doel is simpel: de authentieke energie van Hollywood naar Europa brengen, zodat ook mensen die het zich niet kunnen veroorloven om zelf naar Amerika te trekken dezelfde opleiding kunnen krijgen.

Er zijn niet veel acteercursussen die zich toespitsen op acteren voor de camera. Aan de meeste scholen krijg je immers—impliciet of expliciet—theatertechnieken aangeleerd en hoewel de acteerkunst zelf centraal blijft staan, mag het duidelijk zijn dat acteren voor tv en film lichtjes andere vaardigheden vereist, aangezien het meestal gepaard gaat met subtielere, kleinere uitdrukkingen en bewegingen. Filmkenners weten dan ook dat de camera de kleinste emotie pleegt op te merken.

De meest minuscule micro-expressies, de minst evidente ‘subtext’ en de meest gelaagde vertolkingen zijn zichtbaar op zowel het grote als het kleine scherm.

In België horen de Intensive Acting Courses van Badass pr al lang bij de weinige acteerlessen die zich exclusief bezighouden met acteren voor de camera, aangevuld met improvisatie.

Tijdens de lessen komen alle belangrijke acteertechnieken voorbij, waaronder die van Adler, Chekhov, Hagen, Meisner, Practical Aesthetics, Stanislavski en Strasberg, maar het doel blijft hetzelfde: om techniek in zekere zin te vergeten en even natuurlijk te acteren als je ademhaalt. Ook de eigen techniek van Badass Intensive Acting Studios, R.E.P.E.A.T., is daarvoor ontwikkeld.

Sinds auteur/coach/redacteur/pr-consultant Dirk pr meer dan 10 jaar geleden begon acteerlessen te geven, heeft hij geprobeerd om zijn studenten zoveel mogelijkheden aan te reiken als hij kon. Dat ging met vallen en opstaan: soms slaagde hij er niet in om iets van de grond te krijgen, op andere moment slaagde hij in zijn doelstellingen. Die van zijn studenten variëren van meer zelfvertrouwen ontwikkelen tot socialer worden en meer kansen krijgen om in een theaterstuk, een film of een tv-serie mee te spelen. Een van de beste beslissingen: een samenwerking opstarten met de Hollywood Actors’ Studios van Larry, Bobbie and Richie Chance – drie van de bekendste acteercoaches in de filmwereld.

Badass Intensive Acting organiseert nu al jaren workshops in Los Angeles en Las Vegas om zijn studenten toe te kunnen laten te leren van de meest prestigieuze instructeurs, ‘talentagents’ en ‘castingdirectors’ die Los Angeles in aanbieding heeft. Zo heeft de samenwerking met Hollywood Actor’s Showcase en Richie’s Acting workshop al heel wat vruchten afgeworpen.

Natuurlijk hangt het van vele factoren af of je succes kunt boeken als acteur—een grote dosis geluk en veel toewijding zijn meestal erg belangrijk—maar de studenten van de Chances kunnen zeker zeggen dat ze zo goed voorbereid zijn als maar kan. Van improvisatielessen tot werken met scripts en intens emotionele lessen: de cursussen bestrijken het hele spectrum van wat de filmwereld nodig heeft.

Sinds augustus 2019 vliegen Badass Intensive Acting Studios en Hollywood Actor’s Showcase in België onder een banier. In België werken de Chances nu exclusief met Badass Intensive Acting Studios (nu ‘Powered by Hollywood Actor’s Showcase’) samen. De participerende studenten krijgen niet alleen een korting op de internationale workshops, maar ook kunnen genieten van een heleboel andere voordelen.

Met jouw cursusgeld kan je wanneer je maar wilt meedoen aan eender welke van onze cursussen. Zo kan je niet alleen leren acteren, maar ook proeven van onze cursussen debat- en presentatietechnieken (onze tv-cursus), communicatie, zang, improvisatie, 'physical acting', leugendetectie, hypnose, regie, of schrijven! Comment se préparer à une interview médias ? Quels moyens utiliser pour combattre sa peur de la caméra et améliorer son image ? Comment se présenter et présenter son projet face à une caméra ?

Comment se présenter et présenter son projet face aux médias ?

Un contenu ciblé selon votre projet : Communication verbale et / ou gestuelle; Séduction de la lentille et / ou du microphone; Improvisation devant un micro et/ou une caméra; Voix & regard; Jeux d’une ou deux caméras; Chronique; Animation; Reportage; Direct radio & télé; Interview; Narration; Elocution sous toutes ses formes (...).

En bref, plusieurs objectifs :
◾ Affronter sa timidité face au micro / caméra.
◾ Comprendre son élocution et sa diction.
◾ Apprivoiser l’environnement médiatique (radio/tv).
◾ Se familiariser avec son image et sa voix.
◾ Gérer son temps de parole.

Au travers des exercices (diction, voix, présence, respiration, présentations, gestion du temps), des jeux de rôles, des simulations d’interviews et la familiarisation de son image et de sa voix, les participants évoluent à leur rythme dans un encadrement pédagogique souple.

À savoir que pendant la séance par visio-conférence, toutes les notes sont retranscrites au fur et à mesure sur le chat pour que vous puissiez y avoir accès à n'importe quel moment lorsque vous le souhaitez.

En effet, la prise de parole est une activité à dominante physique, qui, tout en soignant son image, s'appuie sur un corps, une voix, un souffle, un rythme (diction) et une émotion (l’imagination et les sensations) traduisant l'implication de l'orateur dans son discours. Comment faire passer un message clair ? Comment créer la différence, marquer les esprits ?

Savoir parler, agir et interagir en public est aujourd’hui presque une nécessité : votre prise de parole en public doit être efficace et performante avec des messages clairs, simples et percutants.

Seront présentés les outils simples et pragmatiques pour : engendrer de l’écoute ● marquer les esprits ● entraîner la confiance ● générer le besoin ● motiver les équipes en expliquant une stratégie ● faire passer les messages au sein de groupes ● vaincre sa timidité en assimilant les 3 axes CRV (corps-respiration-voix) ● mieux gérer le désaccord ou le conflit.

Maîtrisée, la méthode permet :
• d’améliorer la confiance en soi et la gestion du stress avec le développement de l'aisance (verbale-corporelle) de l'orateur, sa prise de parole en public et son sens de la répartie et de l’improvisation.

Hi, my name is Jim. I'm an electronic music producer with a Master’s degree in Music from the Fontys Academy of Arts (Rockacademie) in Tilburg, Netherlands. Music has always been my way of exploring the world — through raw field recordings, synthesis, and emotional storytelling. Over the past 12 years, I’ve developed a complete, self-sufficient creative process: from concept to composition, sound design to vocal production, mixing, mastering, and live performance. I’m passionate about helping others gain those same end-to-end technical skills — so they can bring their own musical vision fully to life.

As Malvae, I’ve written, sung, recorded, produced, mixed, mastered, and performed all of my work. My music reached #17 in the Spotify Viral 50 charts in the USA, gathered millions of streams, and featured in international film productions including King of the Streets and Netflix’s Terrace House Japan. One of the most formative moments in my career was my Amazonas album project, where I traveled into the Amazon rainforest to record and manipulate natural sounds. 90% of that album was created entirely from these field recordings, reshaped through granular synthesis and advanced sound design into a cohesive sonic journey. That experience deeply shaped how I approach my music and how I teach sound design and composition.

I’ve headlined shows at iconic venues like Melkweg Amsterdam with immersive, self-built audiovisual live sets using Ableton Live, modular gear, sequencers, and Resolume for live integrated visuals. I curated my own events and performed at venues like A’dam Tower, OT301. I also teach at studios such as Wisseloord in Hilversum, guiding students through the technical and creative intersections of sound and performance.

Selected Works & Collaborations:

My EP Like Bees to a Hive began as a soundscape for fashion brand Lobomar’s collection Final Orders, Please, presented at the Amsterdam World Museum. I collaborated with South African poet Julia-Beth Harris, integrating her spoken word into a seamless, atmospheric release. From sequential Prophet 6 textures to ADX1 drum machine layers and detailed field recordings, I handled every layer, from concept through multitrack production to the final live performance in London.

My Chrysalis EP, released as a limited-edition heavyweight red vinyl, pushed that even further, combining ethereal vocals, analog grit, and unique textures to craft an emotionally rich release. I personally led every part of the project’s technical and creative execution, from arrangement and vocal production to final mixing, mastering and vinyl press preparation.

In addition to my own projects, I’ve worked as a vocal producer and mixing engineer, including on Esther Veen’s EP Before I Go, where I handled recording, complex vocal layering, creative processing, production, multivocal arrangement and final mixing to deliver a polished, high-impact sound.

Las clases se imparten en mi estudio en Burdeos o por videollamada con Google Meet y Listento (un plugin de streaming de audio de alta calidad y sin latencia que pago para mis alumnos). También puedo ir a tu casa (+10 €).

I’m a Music Producer with experience in sound design and composition for moving image.
I have been using Ableton as my main daw for 12 years for electronic music production, ranging from pop and experimental music to studio recording sessions.

Online sessions are held using Muse Sessions, which allows us to listen, view, and interact with your music software in real time.

My approach is fully tailored to your goals. Sessions typically focus on finishing tracks, developing ideas, improving arrangement and mixdowns, sound design, and building a more confident and efficient creative workflow.

We’ll work directly with your own music wherever possible, using it as the basis for focused, practical progress. We can also analyse and deconstruct released tracks that inspire you, breaking down structure, sound choices, and production techniques so you can apply them to your own work.

Alongside this, I’m happy to share insight from my own projects and releases, offering perspective on creative decision-making, workflow, and long-term development as an artist. For those interested in sound design, sessions can cover synthesis, samplers, effects, routing, modular and practical ways to get the most out of the tools you already use, whether software or hardware.

I also offer guidance on the wider industry side of music, including preparing music for release, getting signed, developing an artistic identity, self-releasing, content creation, and composing for film and TV.

These sessions are best suited to committed beginners through to intermediate producers who want clear feedback, direction, and momentum in their work.

Do you have a song that you've written that you believe could be amazing? Do you already have some skills using a DAW like Logic, Ableton, Pro Tools or Garage band? Would you like a new set of 'arrangers/producers ears' to redefine your song, reimagine it or simply improve what you have to bring it up to the best possible level?

I have worked in these areas where the boundary between composition, production and arrangement becomes blurred. The truth is they are inseparable to the end result and imagination is everything. So is an extra set of ears! Thats were I can help.

Which instrument to use ? (bass guitar or bass synth), which keys sound and where to place it in the mix. Where to set that high pass filter on the vocal? How much saturation does the snare need?

I can give creative input and advise having written and composed more than 150 songs and recorded approximately 100+. Having run a UK based record label for almost 20 years.

If using a studio DAW, my experience is mainly with LogicPro although most creative 'arrangement' decisions do not need to be technical knob twiddling.

My background as a musician is vocals and guitars but as an arranger I've worked with everything.

For the past 10 years I have been using Ableton Live for sound design and composition to pursue my own style.
For me the inspiration was in breakcore, dub, psytrance, hardcore, tekno, classical music, punk, metal, ... but for you it can be something completely different. Maybe you know exactly what you want to achieve. If not, we can explore together where the adventure of music production will take you.

It doesn't matter if you are just starting from scratch, or if you already learned some things but want to dive deeper into the software. For Advanced students, I also teach modular audio synthesis with the free software VCV Rack.
