Hello! I am Claudia, and I am a graduate of a Master in Linguistics and a Bachelor of Foreign Languages. I am currently a researcher at the University of Barcelona, and I deal with intercultural communication and linguistic diversity. I am also a freelance teacher.

I have been teaching French and Italian for more than five years in several European countries (Italy, Belgium, Spain, and France), meeting almost all kinds of student profile (school students, university students, individuals, business employees, expatriates, amateurs, etc.).

My centres of interest are languages and cultures. For me, learning a language means, first of all, understanding its contexts and background. That is why I use cultural content as a stimulus to improve my students' linguistic and communicative competences. Italian is my language, my culture, my history. French is my second home, as I lived there for several years. It would be a pleasure to share these languages and amazing cultures with you!

Thanks to my travels and my professional experience, I have understood that learning a language means first of all understanding its contexts of use and the society around it. For this reason, I use cultural content as stimuli to work on the linguistic and communicative skills of my students. In fact, my students become consumers of culture, music, current affairs, cinema, series, shorts and everything that can help them experience the realities of different languages.

I speak five languages, two of which I have learned on a self-taught basis. Also, with a BA in Languages and a MA in Linguistics, I am a specialist in language, mental management and planning. I consider learning a language as a project, because it will always be connected to another larger / wider project. Maybe to move to another country or prepare for a job promotion ...

My students are students, individuals, company employees and expatriates who need to develop a methodology to learn languages effectively.

Hello everyone,

after successfully obtaining my French Baccalauréat and a Bachelor's Degree in Cinema (Licence) with High Honors, I am currently working at the Institut Français in Duesseldorf, where I did a seminar to become examiner for the French DELF tests. I also work with schools and promote this language to a young public, and therefore developed a high pedagogical quality during this last year.

I am therefore ready to help you in all your needs with this language, which can be quite tough sometimes (think about pronounciation and exceptions to the rules), and which I struggled myself to learn before obtaining a high professional level.

I can prepare you with strategies to understand the structure of the national test and help you successfully pass it, but I can also encourage you to "unblock" your language skills with chill conversation sessions, or more rigorous grammar explanation, while sharing with my suggestions to embrace this enriching culture (be it with films, books, music or art).

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.

Italian is a rich and beautiful language. Understanding the romance of Italian songs, knowing how to speak with locals, or simply wanting to impress your friends, learning the most beautiful of languages has many benefits.
Having lived in Italy for 2 years myself, my course will be based on concrete conversations and also on contemporary Italian culture.
You will learn to converse using a method that allowed me to become fluent in Italian in 6 months. It's simply a matter of speaking without worrying about mistakes and, above all, with complete confidence. By speaking regularly, even making mistakes, your brain will automatically adapt its language to match that of the tutor (me) and you will learn vocabulary, grammar, etc., much faster.

Il mio approccio combina spiegazioni chiare e applicazione pratica: la grammatica viene affrontata attraverso esempi contestualizzati, esercizi guidati e attività di lettura, scrittura e conversazione. Dedico attenzione alla pronuncia, all’ampliamento del lessico e alla comprensione della struttura della frase, anche attraverso confronti con l’italiano.

Una lezione tipo inizia con un breve ripasso e con le domande dello studente. Segue il lavoro su un argomento concordato, alternando spiegazione ed esercitazione.
