I offer Japanese lessons that focus on grammar and vocabulary—both common difficulties—as well as spoken language. The goal of the course is to cover the technical aspects of the language without being overly theoretical or academic.

In my lessons, I combine the theoretical aspect of the language, which is essential for speaking correctly, with the practical aspect, which enables one to express oneself clearly and interact effectively with native speakers – while maintaining a certain distance from both sides.

Through my experience in interpreting from Japanese and my stays in Japan, I can convey a natural and spontaneous approach to the language.

The course focuses on grammar, vocabulary, and writing (kanji). From the perspective of an Indo-European language speaker, the course aims to help learners acquire the structure of the Japanese language naturally, freeing themselves from any possible unconscious biases inherent in their own language.

I also place particular emphasis on the connection between written and spoken language—an aspect that often seems surprising in Japanese—so as not to separate the two elements.

I develop diverse methods of teaching for the students. For the around 5-8 years old kids, I would like to set certain games to play with them, thereby the kids can learn the new language during the interaction and communication. In this way, different media, like color pictures, puppets, or storybooks are essential to make the course very attractive. For the teenager or advanced students, a structuralized teaching content based on scenarios or textbook could help the students to develop their language capacity efficiently in different aspects – listening, reading, speaking, and writing. The most important thing when learning a language is to build up your own language corpus and to actually use the language in conversation and in everyday life.
Since I taught myself German, I know the subtle differences between Chinese and German very well – from pronunciation to grammar to the cultural nuances behind them.

In my lessons, I don't use traditional textbooks. I'm much more interested in how you want to learn this language.
In the first lesson, we'll get to know each other through conversation: What do you like to talk about? What would you like to improve? After that, I'll create personalized lessons for you. Each lesson begins with an open conversation in Chinese. Depending on your needs, I'll integrate relevant audio and video materials into the lessons. After each lesson, you'll receive a list of new vocabulary and key points to keep you informed, so you can continuously expand your vocabulary. This is even more helpful if you use Anki :)

Note: This course is not suitable for absolute beginners or for targeted exam preparation.
