English Language Arts is a discipline that includes reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing, and producing texts. Texts may include various narrative, informational, and literary genres, as well as visual information, both on written pages and in digital forms. The core purpose of English Language Arts is to develop the ability to use a wide repertoire of tools for communicating one's own ideas, experiences, and perspectives, and for receiving, interpreting, analyzing, and evaluating the communication of others. English Language Arts supports people in constructing meaning of the world around them.
