The teacher is a Ugandan PhD student in International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He won a Government of Uganda Scholarship to pursue his undergraduate studies at Gulu University, gaining a first-class degree in Bachelor of Arts Education (History and Economics). Isa is also a graduate of the University of Cambridge, where he studied for an MPhil in African Studies as a Commonwealth Scholar. He has more than eight years of teaching experience, both at the secondary school and university level. In the past, he has taught classes on European, British, African, US, Asian, and Middle East histories.

My history classes are suitable for the 10, 11, 12, and 13-year-old UK and IGCSE students (Cambridge International Curriculum) and AS and A-Level students (UK and Cambridge International). The learners will study history from political, economic, cultural, and social perspectives. They will develop an interest in understanding the past. Besides learning historical concepts such as cause, consequence, change, and continuity, learners will also gain a deeper understanding of global issues. Above all, students will develop higher-order thinking skills.

History and politics have always been a passion of mine and I am very much willing to teach anyone who desires any tutoring. At times it can be very difficult and overwhelming if you need to make an exam or write an essay - I can be there to help in case you need guidance! The goal here would be to make you understand history better, organize patterns in your head and possibly make you love the subject! This should definitely help in either expanding your worldview, or enhancing your history grades. I am willing to teach history (or politics/maatschappijleer) in Dutch or English.

I have little preference in regard to eras or themes in history, but if you must know I especially enjoy political and military macro-history. The grand patterns throughout history fascinate me, with of course, attention to large events. No era or area is particularly strange to me, again, being able to process history is the goal here!

The grand goal is to get a basic, intermediate or advanced understanding in one of the subjects. I could, possibly, rehearse with you and ask you how fluent you are in the topics at hand. I am fully willing to adapt to the student his or her academic needs. In case you wish me to help you in structuring or writing a history essay, then this, too is no problem!

I completed the IB DP with a consistent 7/ high 6 in Higher Level History, and this has always been one of my favorite subjects. I am very good at this subject and have somewhat of a passion for it. I have a very good grasp of what is expected from the IB students as pertains to this subject, and I know the ins and outs of the criteria and the weird and wonderful little ways in which the IB expects the students to perform. I am able to help with any course work, homework, assignments, or assessments. As pertains to the DP students, I also did my EE on a History topic so I can assist there if need be. Ik heb ruime ervaring met het geven van bijles en het begeleiden van leerlingen bij verschillende organisaties. In de afgelopen jaren heb ik gewerkt met leerlingen van uiteenlopende niveaus, waarbij ik heb gemerkt dat ik veel energie haal uit het uitleggen van lesstof en het vergroten van zelfvertrouwen bij leerlingen.

Mijn interesse en passie liggen vooral bij de vakken geschiedenis, aardrijkskunde en maatschappijleer/burgerschap. Ik vind het belangrijk om deze vakken niet alleen inhoudelijk duidelijk uit te leggen, maar ook te laten zien hoe ze aansluiten bij de actualiteit en de belevingswereld van leerlingen.
