As a passionate and versatile primary school teacher with an impactful 13-year journey in education, I wholeheartedly believe in the potential and innate talents of every child. My adventure began in Sri Lanka and led me to the Netherlands in 2018, where I've continued my mission of finding innovative ways to work with children. Currently, I'm teaching as a Montessori educator, specialising in the care and education of children aged three to six years.

I have experience in educating children in different roles as a Montessori guide, a primary school teacher, a private tutor catering to individual children's needs, and a qualified special needs teacher. These different roles have sharpened my skills and improved my ability to cater to each child's individual needs.

In addition to my experience as an educator, I also have conducted private music lessons in piano and organ for children between the ages of 3 and 10. With a gentle and patient approach tailored to each child's unique needs and age, I introduce them to the enchanting world of music. These private lessons offer young learners the opportunity to discover their creativity and the joy of playing and listening to musical instruments.

In my English language classes, I focus on enhancing the vocabulary, reading, writing skills, and grammar. But here's where it gets exciting: I also bring the flair of a qualified speech and drama teacher into my teaching strategies. I followed the bachelor's degree of Special Needs Education in the Open University of Sri Lanka. There I learned about educational technology for special needs students, the values of primary education, child rights and educational management. I also possess knowledge on how to adapt my school curriculum in an inclusive classroom. I also did many teaching practice sessions to develop my own teaching methodologies. I attained the DETE at the University of Colombo. Here I was educated on more advanced English reading, writing, speech, listening and literature concepts. I followed CPTE at the Institute of Western Music and Speech, in which I further sharpened my language skills. I also followed AMI at the Good Shepherd Maria Montessori Center, Sri Lanka, where I gained the practice and principles of the Montessori method for children.
I was a primary teacher in Colombo International school-Srilanka(CIS), in Good Shepherd Montessori House of children(as an AMI Montessori Teacher), and also Sunflower International Primary School as a Montessori Teacher.
Teaching is a very demanding profession, and as per my experience, I see my students succeed and gain positive results regularly. It is no secret that I'm greatly driven by their hard work and achievements. Sometimes I have come across children who are uninterested and very distracted in a learning environment but I as an educator use versatile educational strategies to encourage the hidden talents of students.

There isn't a better way to teach your child a new language than through playing. My job is to introduce the English, French, or Arabic language while your child is discovering and learning to make sense of the world around them. Through play, children have more capacity to develop linguistic, social, and communication skills, and gain the self-confidence they need.
My job is to play with the child while using the new language vocabulary; as an example, we can play the Zoo game and learn the names of the animals, the noise they make, the food they consume, and where they live in the wild.
While we play, we can use toys, pictures, songs, videos, and house objects such as fruits and vegetables.
We can play inside or outside in a safe environment.
I have a program that I developed to help my child learn a language and have fun at the same time. It consists of games, reading books, and role-playing in different themes such as ( Food, Animals, Numbers, Alphabet, Colors, Geography, Nature, Technology, Outfits... )
This program can be discussed and edited by the parent according to their child's needs and level.

Most people need to revise the basics of language over and over again in order to master it, and having a good knowledge of how the language works at its core, i.e. its grammar, will help improve one's language skills drastically.
I think the best way of learning a language is by familiarizing yourself with it. I therefore like to conduct my lessons mainly in the target language. Moreover, I will tailor my lesson to the students' needs, a language has 4 core parts (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking), and each of us has different strong points and weaknesses when it comes to expressing ourselves in a second language.
