Hello, my name is Sofia and I'm an engineering student tutoring on the side.

I have worked as a tutor for several years, mostly primary school children, and this experience has enabled me to pursue two passions: teaching and math. I love to share my knowledge with those who want to learn and to come up with creative ways to solve problems successfully. I'm goal-driven and determined in my work, and will celebrate small victories while using mistakes as opportunities to do better. I believe it's important to encourage all students, whether young or old, to treat stumbling blocks as just that rather than as insurmountable obstacles.

In addition to teaching math, I'm also available for English and Italian language lessons. I have experience teaching these to students of all ages and have worked for three years as a TEFL-certified teacher.

I spent my childhood and teens moving back and forth between Germany and America (attending local schools) as a French citizen, so in addition to being a native speaker of both languages, I am also sensitive to individual concerns that can come up e.g. shyness, difficulty expressing oneself, etc. I have taught private students from all walks of life in Germany, France, Hungary, UK, USA, and now Finland, focusing on anything from run-of-the-mill tutoring to specific needs e.g. confidence in public speaking, social settings related to work, preparation for college / grad school.

I can help you with English grammar and vocabulary or prepare you for a specific exam. Depending on your wishes, I can also work with you on your conversation or writing skills. I'd be happy to help you with any kind of problem you have in English.

I have a student-centred approach based on a mutual discussion about what goals you want to achieve and the duration to realize them.
