Ik heb reeds 15 jaar ervaring als professionele muzikant met meer dan 40 opgenomen albums en concerten in de hele wereld. Ik heb veel verschillende muziekstijlen gespeeld en een formele opleiding genoten: Bachelor in Jazz-slagwerk van de Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag, NL. Mijn lessen focussen zich op een complete basis (techniek, "sound", tempo, woordenschat van de muziek) om verschillende muziekstijlen te kunnen spelen. Afhankelijk van de wens van de student kan de les evenwel meer specifiek zijn.

من أنا؟

I have been playing concerts all over the world and recording albums for many labels in many different musical contexts. I have made music for movies and radio pieces, performed in dance and theatre pieces. In the last 15 years I've accumulated academic studies and a lot of experience and have had the privilege of sharing stages and studios with brilliant musicians (some of them very famous and others less). Therefore I believe I am now ready to teach more extensively.
I find it important to play the instrument with my students both to illustrate more effectively what I teach and to eventually inspire them. I believe that a drumset is a complete musical instrument and not just a functional, accompaniment instrument.
I can give lessons to a big variety of students. From beginners to advanced students, people who want to study specific aspects like technique, reading, jazz improvisation, general improvisation, other musical styles, or a bit of everything.

I have a bachelor in Jazz-drums from the Royal Conservatorium of The Hague in the Netherlands in 2006.
Siena Jazz Seminar 2002 where I won a scholarship to go back the year after.

I have recorded more than 40 albums for labels such as ECM, Clean Feed, CamJazz, Challenge, NEOS, De Werf, El Negocito, Igloo, among others.
I have played in some of the most important jazz festivals in Europe such as Middelheim, Gaume Jazz (BE) North Sea Jazz(NL), Umbria Jazz (IT), Jazz em Agosto(Pt), Mei Jazz (NO), Copenhagen Jazz Festival (DK), Jazz à La Défense, Le Mans Jazz Festival (FR), to name a few.
I have played with musicians such as Enrico Rava, Marshall Allen, Rosewell Rudd, Carlos Bica, Nate Wooley, Thomas Morgan, John Hebert, Mário Laginha, Giovanni Guidi, Michel Massot, Laurent Blondiau, Guillaume Orti, Jeroen Van herzeele, Ben Sluijs, Bram De Looze, Erik Vermeulen, among many others.
I have been nominated for "Best Original Music" at the Fénix Awards in Mexico for my soundtrack for the Portuguese feature film "John From".
I have worked with the Danish dance company WeGo and the Belgian Ballets Confidentiels aswell as with the swiss dancer/choreographer Sarah Ludi.

I offer students of all levels and ages, the opportunity to study in a fun and relaxed environment, so they are comfortable yet challenged at every turn. My approach is to enable each student to develop sound foundations, discipline and the essentials of good playing skills.

Weekly private lessons aimed to serve the ultimate goal of performing LIVE with a professional band, in front of real audiences, in real music venues.

As a student of rythm on Djembe you will be able to play along all rythm with the skills that you will earn from my courses the initiation of rythm and timing and for those who are interested to learn Bass Guitar you will learn the music theory and the harmony of the guitar bass so you will be able to play the tunes that you like or compose tunes for yourself so this courses will fit you if you are a composer or if you want to play tunes that you like. You can also learn with me one most spoken language from Africa, Swahili.
