Ich habe durch Zufall angefangen, Klavier zu unterrichten – mit Geflüchteten. Dabei habe ich gemerkt, wie kraftvoll Musik sein kann, um Menschen zu unterstützen. Im Laufe der Jahre ist das Unterrichten zu etwas geworden, das ich sehr schätze. Ich arbeite weiterhin als Künstlerin, und Musik und Kunst sind nach wie vor meine größten Leidenschaften. Aber die Momente, die ich mit meinen Schülerinnen teile, sind genauso bedeutungsvoll geworden. Ich konnte Verbindungen zu Menschen aufbauen, wie ich es nie erwartet hätte, und ich sehe diese Arbeit als eine Möglichkeit, zu einer besseren Welt beizutragen.
Die meisten meiner Schülerinnen sind Erwachsene. Manche haben als Kinder gespielt und steigen wieder ein, andere sind komplette Anfängerinnen; einige sind fortgeschritten und möchten tiefer gehen. Im Unterricht arbeiten wir nicht nur an der Technik, sondern auch am musikalischen Verständnis: zu lesen, was „in“ der Partitur steckt, Interpretation zu entwickeln und Musik als lebendige Sprache zu erleben – nicht nur als Punkte auf dem Papier. Ich unterrichte auch gern Kinder und begleite ihr Wachstum über längere Zeit. Zu sehen, wie Musik ihre Entwicklung unterstützt, berührt mich immer wieder.

Comecei a dar aulas de piano por acaso, com pessoas refugiadas. Percebi como a música pode ser poderosa para ajudar as pessoas. Com o passar dos anos, ensinar se tornou algo que valorizo profundamente. Continuo trabalhando como artista, e música e arte seguem sendo minhas maiores paixões. Mas os momentos que compartilho com os alunos se tornaram igualmente significativos. Consegui criar conexões com as pessoas de um jeito que eu nunca imaginei, e vejo esse trabalho como uma forma de contribuir para um mundo melhor.
A maioria dos meus alunos é adulta. Alguns tocaram quando crianças e estão voltando, outros são iniciantes do zero; alguns já são avançados e querem se aprofundar. Nas aulas, trabalhamos não apenas a técnica, mas também a compreensão musical: ler o que está “dentro” da partitura, desenvolver interpretação e viver a música como uma linguagem viva — não apenas pontos no papel. Também gosto de ensinar crianças e acompanhar seu crescimento ao longo do tempo. Ver como a música apoia o desenvolvimento delas é sempre emocionante.

I started teaching piano by chance, with refugees. I realized how powerful music can be to help people. Over the years, teaching has become something I value deeply. I still work as an artist, and music and art remain my biggest passions. But the moments I share with students have become just as meaningful. I’ve been able to build connections with people in a way I never expected, and I see this work as way of contributing to a better world.
Most of my students are adults. Some played as children and are returning, others are complete beginners; some are advanced and want to go deeper. In lessons, we work not only on technique, but also on musical understanding: reading what is “inside” the score, developing interpretation, and experiencing music as a living language, not just dots on a page. I also enjoy teaching children and accompanying their growth over time. Watching how music supports their development is always moving.
