Introduction to Proof Writing for University Students
A partir de 31.71 $ /h
What you will learn here is to reason, write, and read like a mathematician. The book we follow is Velleman's "How To Prove It", which provides a systematic attempt to reason with proofs. The book will cover Logic, Sets, Proofs, Relations, Functions, Induction, and Infinite Sets, and they are the basis for all mathematical literature. The background of calculus is not needed rather only algebra & trigonometry, and a determined, and humble, spirit.

Acerca de mí
I graduated as a Statistics & Data Scientist with a knack of programming and mathematics, plus I can speak some basic Cantonese, a dialect of Chinese. I am currently a freelance tutor teaching mathematics, programming, and statistics, and before that I was a software engineer with 3-4 years experience. I teach students to learn how to neatly write mathematics and challenge the reason their steps as well as provide guidance and insight to what they are doing, and these are the key to understanding mathematics.
In a bit of a personal note I had failed mathematics back in high school, so I can sympathise with struggling the students on its difficulty. However, given where I stand I believe anyone can learn mathematics, even if they failed high school like I did. The only thing they need is time, patience, and humility if they learn these three wisdom they can learn anything, and not just mathematics, and statistics, but all subjects.
