Dutch is a hard language to master, but a fun language to learn.

I have 3 years’ experience teaching Dutch as a first and second language to elementary school children abroad.

During my language classes the focus is on your personal goals and specific needs. I will adjust my teaching style and materials, based on what you want to learn.

This class is perfect for children and adults, for beginners, intermediate and advanced students, wherever you are.

Some of the things you can learn with me include, but are not limited to:
- Dutch writing (e.g. a resume, essays, short stories or poems)
- Dutch reading (e.g. news articles, novels and stories or academic texts)
- Dutch listening (e.g. movies and tv shows, complex or simple conversations)
- Dutch speaking (e.g. having conversations, hosting an event, preparing a speech)

Hi everyone! I am Myrthe, a Dutch national living around the world. I love language learning and five years ago I discovered that I also love teaching languages. I am advanced in English and Dutch, fluent in Chinese and German, conversational in Spanish and am currently picking up Arabic.

I have three years’ experience as a Dutch teacher in Taiwan and four years’ experience tutoring kids aged between 3-14, both in Dutch and English. I have taught various subjects such as language, reading, writing, public speaking, science and more.

My teaching methods depend on your learning style. I am open to following your curriculum or can provide you with one based on your needs. My classes are focused on YOU and are 100% personalized to your desire.

For (younger) children I am a big fan of learning through play and music. I believe that using something within a child's specific interest is an easy way to pick up a new language.

I am also comfortable working with a textbook/method.
In case you decide to work with a specific textbook or method, I can arrange it for you, or you can provide one for me to teach from.

If you are the parent(s) of multiple children, I would be happy to teach them at the same time or different times. I’m sure we can make a good deal regarding rates.

I am also open to teaching adults. It would be a great opportunity for us to connect and engage in conversation or improve your skillset.

I have completed my pre-university education in the Netherlands with a specific focus on economic & society and culture & society. For the past two years I have been studying diplomacy and international relations in Taiwan.

English is the most widely known language across the world and is frequently used for international communication. That's why it's incredibly important and maybe even necessary to master the language. On top of that can it be very helpful to know English when looking for a job, applying for a course or degree program, or starting up a business. Being able to understand and speak English is often considered a pro, if not a requirement.

During this course I can help you prepare for your English test. We can practice together. In this course you can expect to learn and practice a few things:
- reading strategies that will help you find answers in a text
- listening strategies that will help you understand the conversations during the test
- grammar that will help you improve listening and reading
- the keys to writing a good essay during your test
- vocabulary to be able to understand and answer questions on the test

During the classes I will provide you with online materials. I can also give you homework that you can make and which I will check for you. After I check it we will discuss the wrong answers and focus on improving.

My classes are focused on YOU and your goal. That's why my teaching strategy will be based on your learning preferences and knowledge. If you are a visual thinker I will provide you with visualization to make the learning process easier. If you struggle at only a certain part of the test, we can focus on that part alone.

Dutch is my mother tongue, I am Dutch and I suggest you improve your level of Dutch by focusing on conversation - pronunciation - learning to express yourself well - convincing shyness to speak. Of course also academic support - explanation of grammar - reading and understanding texts - writing and editing. Preparing for job interviews, raising the level of Dutch for professional use to a higher level, working with university students to prepare for their Dutch exams etc etc. I adapt my lessons to the needs of each student. With advanced students we discuss the news based on newspaper articles.

I use several methods which are specially conceived to teach Dutch to people who have a different mother tongue. I really like to use methods out of the ordinary like role games or methods with which you learn while playing. All these adapted to the student's situation of course. As I learned myself a couple of other languages, it is easy for me to detect difficulties a student can encounter and adapt the way of learning. I can teach in English, French, German and Russian.

I am a Belgian (Flemish) and French student with a Masters in International Public Law (Amsterdam) and a Masters in Global development (University of Copenhagen). World traveler, I have lived in Thailand, Denmark, Greece, the Netherlands, US, Switzerland and many more countries, where I both dtudies and worked as a legal advisor.

2021-2022:
I worked at "bijlesthuis," a Dutch tutoring institution, where I primarily taught French, Dutch, and English to adult learners seeking to improve their language skills. During the same period, I also provided classes to other students through Apprentus.

2021:
Through Apprentus and other websites, I assisted several younger students (ages 5-15) in Bern and Geneva, helping them improve their skills in subjects such as Maths and French.

2017-2020:
I worked for three years at a tutoring institution in Geneva called ARA, where I primarily taught French, Mathematics, and English.

During this time, I also spent two years working at a private school called Florimont, where I supported students aged 11-16 across various subjects by assisting them with their homework.

I can teach French, Dutch, and English, Spanish and in German, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching and assisting students in their progress and acquisition of new skills.
