تنقسم الجملة في النحو العربي إلى جملتين :
اسمية وفعلية وللجملة في النحو العربي بنية أساسية فإن حذف أحد العناصر الأساسية لأي من البنيتين قُدّر.
فإن كانت اسمية فإن بنيتها: مبتدأ وخبر أو أداة نسخ واسم للناسخ وخبر مع تغيير في حكمهما الإعرابي بعد أن كانا مبتدأ وخبر
وإن كانت فعلية فإن بنيتها الأساسية فعل وفاعل إن كان الفعل لازما و فعل وفاعل ومفعول به إن كان الفعل متعديا وماسوى ذلك فضلات.
