Leaners of foreign languages want to study new languages because it broadens their horizon and opens up new doors of opportunity. Throughout my life, I studied French, Arabic and Chinese. I learned these languages in conjunction with Maltese, which is my native language, and English, which is an official language in Malta. The main reason I studied Arabic and Chinese was curiosity. I was curious to learn and understand the meaning of each word or character of these languages that do not use the Latin alphabet. I hope, and aim that I instill the same sense of curiosity in my teaching, so that I can help students explore new vocabulary on their own as well.
