I am a certified English teacher and tutor, based in Kampala.

I come from the east of England, by the seaside. I moved to Kampala in 2021 and I live with my partner and two dogs, Barley and Bow.

I work at an international school in Kampala. My teaching experience so far has included working with vulnerable teenagers with an NGO in Liberia, coaching CEOs in Kigali, and teaching children with disabilities in Zambia.

Before I moved to the African continent, I worked in London for 6 years in Sales and Event Management.

I studied Linguistics with Literature, with a focus on English phonetics and phonology. I am currently working to obtain a Post Graduate Diploma in TESOL (Trinity College London). I have the CELTA (Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English) and got an A, the top mark. (I don't normally like to show off but only 5% of candidates get this mark!). I also have a 140-hr TEFL certificate.

My teaching philosophy is simple: I put the student at the heart of every decision. I strongly believe that English language lessons should be task-based and with a clear communicative purpose to make it relevant for your life.

Based on my 13 years of experience, I think that A1 level is a very important period in language learning. When learning any language, beginner level students should learn it in the correct order and important details should be explained well by practising previous ones. Students at more advanced levels, such as A2, B1 or above, also need to practice their skills at the previous level thoroughly to improve their language skills. I try to provide good teaching by paying attention to these important points in my lessons. I keep our lessons' notes in a word file. After our lessons, I send you back all the additional notes and exercises that we covered in our lesson as a Word file.
