Despite advances in AI and other technologies, the core practice of excelling in college remains reading comprehension and essay writing. While these tools can act as a band-aid, they do not help students with foundational learning skills overall. With five years of experience in teaching college composition, I am aware of the gaps between high school and college literacy with which many students enter. My course will focus on filling such gaps to improve prospective and current students' overall reading and writing skills to aid in textbook comprehension and essay writing for any class they may attend. In attending my course, you will practice: - 1:1 help with essay edits and writing - Reading and critical engagement with excerpts from typical college material - Short writing drills to improve overall writing towards a college level - Line editing and peer review
