Hi there! I am an English teacher with 10 years of experience. In addition to teaching at school, I give interactive and holistic English lessons to groups or individuals. My academic field is the education of gifted students. I also conduct out-of-school support activities with these students and provide counseling to parents. Before we start working together, I offer a free initial meeting to get to know you and understand your needs. I am based in Haarlem, the Netherlands but I also offer online classes all over the world. I believe that any kind of effective learning is an adventure that begins with a personal bond and ends with autonomy. Peter Drucker says, "Learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change, and the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn." In this age, every paradigm is changing very fast, so the teacher must help students find out how they learn best. Instead of continuing to deliberately learn something for years, let's find this "know-how" for English and ourselves together!

Prepare yourself thoroughly for the International English Language Testing System to obtain the English language proficiency required for higher education and global migration. There are 2 levels; Academic and General. Each level has 4 sections: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. You will learn and practice them all.

Are you studying at a high school or middle school level and having trouble with math, English or Dutch, I can help. I can answer questions, help study for tests or exams or help with homework. I will be working towards your goals with you. Whether that is to get good grades, get better at something in your personal time or get better to help someone around you.

During the introductory meeting we will first discuss your wishes, what English is needed for, interests, and very importantly, your current level in order to draw up a lesson plan. And of course we also look at preferences regarding teaching style, because this can differ per student. After my studies as a Second Degree English teacher, I enjoyed teaching for a number of years. I was also co-owner of my own translation/text agency Dutch/English and English/Dutch. I continued my translation work from various English-speaking countries. I lived and worked in Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia, where I learned to speak English like the locals. During my long time abroad I followed various studies, including in the field of music, linguistics and animals (especially horses). After many years abroad, I returned to the Netherlands in 2017 and now enjoy teaching English (online). Because I have lived in various English-speaking countries for almost 30 years, my English is exceptionally good. I have learned a bit of culture from each country and of course also some local pronunciation, and when I cheerfully greet you with a G'day mate! then that might be the first Australian expression you hear. But of course you first learn 'proper English', so that everyone can understand you!

Hello, my name is Lucie and I would be delighted to help you learn English, either from scratch or to improve your knowledge. I love getting my students to speak since I think practice is the secret to learning a language and improving your knowledge. I always structure my classes around real-life themes (how to introduce yourself, how to make an appointment, how to shop, how to go to the doctor, talk at work, etc). We will see grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation together. If you are intermediate, we will also do courses on texts. We will put both grammar and vocabulary into practice.
