Experience / Qualifications

Guillaume is a Belgian composer and conductor. Like most Belgian children, he started studying, music history, music theory, piano and accompaniment at the village music school. At the age of 18 he decided to study music at the third level and took courses in Harmony and Counterpoint at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven. Two years later he transferred to the Royal Conservatory of Music in Liège to join the Class of Belgian composers Michel Fourgon and Gilles Gobert in Composition and Experimental music. While continuing his lessons in Belgium, he was admitted to the Maastricht Conservatory for lessons in "Contemporary music ensembles that give lectures". These classes were taught by Stockhausen's former student and the famous German conductor, Robert HP Platz. After obtaining his BAs in Composition, Orchestra and Contemporary Music Ensembles Conducting, he continued his education by taking an MA in Composition with Michel Fourgon and in parallel an MA in Orchestra with Patrick Baton.

After graduating in 2017, he decided to deepen his musical knowledge in music technology at Dublin Institute of Technology / Pulse College in Dublin, Ireland. There he worked with renowned composers Christopher Young (Spiderman 3, Drag Me To Hell), orchestrator Tommy Laurence (How To Train Your Dragon 2, Kung Fu Panda 2), former vice president of music production at Disney Studios Andy Hill (Lion King, Beauty and the Beast), orchestrator Conrad Pope (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Star Wars) and many others from the film and concert industry, including Dr. Linda Buckley and Dr. Garrett Sholdice.

During his years in Belgium, he was appointed principal organist in the St. John the Baptist church of Wavre, Belgium. In 2008 he founded the Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, SOFYA in collaboration with one of his former teachers Pierre Stein. In 2014 he was appointed artistic director and conductor of the Orchester Jean-Noël Hamal de Liège, and for one year as conductor of the young Dutch ensemble for contemporary music, the Chaves ensemble. In November of the same year, the Orchester der Großregion presented its first major work, the cello concerto "Der Kreis". This was performed in different halls all over Europe. In the following years he founded a chamber orchestra in Liège with his colleague Aymeric Cabley and had the opportunity to assist various conductors at international festivals, including: Jean-Bernard Pommier (Piano Prestige - Festival in Cazouls-lès-Béziers, France) and Robert HP Platz (Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Saarbrücken, Germany and the Guitar + Festival in Wurzburg, Germany). In 2015 he was appointed conductor of the Flemish chamber choir Helicante, Belgium.

His compositional career includes both large-scale and small-scale choral works, orchestral and instrumental pieces and music for visual media. His music has already been played by various ensembles all over Europe. His deep affinity with both music and technology leads him to deepen his knowledge of the future of humanity through his music, performances and installations. His increased use of technology in his compositions has influenced his thought processes and his compositions, in which spatialization and interactivity are now central. He is convinced that making music, both for concerts and for visual material, is all about collaboration. Artists must work together to tell a story and create a shared vision that everyone can be proud of.

A great refresher class of organ, perfect if you want to dive into playing after a period of absence. All perfect, from fundamentals (how to practice the technique) to the expression, history etc. I would recommend Guillaume for all levels and instruments.
