As a creative copy professional and philosopher, I see every lesson as an experiment. To keep us both on the edge of our seats, I continuously explore new ways of teaching that fit your specific needs. Feel tempted? Book your first lesson and get one extra! Doubts? Dutch might feel a little violent to a delicate mouth in the beginning. But once you get passed that, a sea of inspiring and quirky new ways to express yourself will open up. To help you move beyond that hump, I will adjust my lessons to your personal passions and interests, including your specific reasons to speak and/or write in this language right now. Two kids that are roughly the same level can share one webcam lesson of one-hour minimum. Keep in mind that we will stay online for at least 15 minutes extra, as young ones will need at least two 5 minute breaks.

My name is Arisa, I am 32 years old. I have studied French here in Amsterdam and I have worked as a French Language teacher for several years. Currently I'm running a freelancing business called Pidgin Tutoring, where I specialise in Dutch. I am also a Dutch Language Teacher at Lycée Francais Vincent van Gogh in Amsterdam where I work with children in the age of 2-4 years old. Ik ben neerlandicus en werk al negen jaar als taaldocent op verschillende hogescholen. Bovendien heb ik meer dan zeventien jaar schrijfervaring. Ik weet dan ook precies hoe ik je moet helpen om je schriftelijke taalbeheersing op niveau te krijgen. Op basis van mijn eigen didactische kennis en onderwijservaring heb ik een cursus ontwikkeld waarin we eerst teruggaan naar de basis, van waaruit je vervolgens stap voor stap leert om je gedachten naar een heldere tekst te vertalen. Het is een intensieve cursus, dat zeker, maar na afloop heb je dan ook het gevoel dat je opnieuw hebt leren schrijven.

Let me help you improve your Dutch, so you can get that promotion, strike up that conversation in the bar, or just feel comfortable in Dutch language situations. I'll make sure to take your personal needs, preferences and schedule into account to make sure you advance as quick as possible. Extra info: I have a teacher diploma and years of teaching experience, so my didactics will be on point. I can explain grammar in Dutch, English, French and/or German if needed.

If your child is having difficulties in school, I would love to be able to help them overcome them. I had the opportunity to work in several non-profit organizations (Schola ULB, Youth Club, CIFA, ABEF) where I helped young adolescents to understand their subject in French, English and Dutch. I also helped them prepare for their exams, including the CEB and CE1D. We will work together on their lessons, we will review the vocabulary and grammar they need to know and we will work on their difficulties in order to overcome them. In view of the current situation, I teach only online.

In our class we will be relaxed, I will help you with the Dutch conversation, the grammar, reading (like an article or a topic what I will give you). I will help students for beginners-lower-intermediate level. After every lesson I will give you homework for the next lesson. Between the two lessons you can always ask me a question about the subject what we’ve discussed. If you have a subject what you’d like to learn about the Dutch language, let me know. I use several methods which are specially conceived to teach Dutch to people who have a different mother tongue. I really like to use methods out of the ordinary like role games or methods with which you learn while playing. All these adapted to the student's situation of course. As I learned myself a couple of other languages, it is easy for me to detect difficulties a student can encounter and adapt the way of learning. I can teach in English, French, German and Russian.

I am a very experienced teacher in Dutch as a second language. I love working with people from other countries because it widens my view and apart from teaching you a new language, I will learn from you about new cultures. For me, learning a new language is first of all learning to get around in daily life. So, a beginners course will always start with this basic information: introducing yourself; making appointments with the dentist, hairdresser, and so on; shopping; going to a restaurant; etc. On an intermediate level, we will work on your speaking skills: having a conversation with your colleagues about your weekend, reading a newspaper article and talk about it; talking about your hobbies, etc. With advanced students we can work on whatever field they need; for example work or other things that are important for you.

Are you preparing for the civic integration exam/ het inburgeringsexamen? I would be happy to help you pass the exam successfully. We will use practice exams to get you more comfortable with the questions and I'll give you tips. We will also look into the grammar points that are necessary for the exam. We will work on all 4 aspects: speaking skills, writing skills. reading skills and listening skills. I would like to hear what you current level of Dutch is, so we can make a proper planning for you. The prices listed are for a class for 1 person.
