AlasdairBeginner Applied Statistics and Statistical Programming for Psychology Students
Stats can be pretty scary and a steep learning curve when studying Psychology, but I want to help guide students through their first hurdles and hopefully give a wider view of the power of stats when applied to Psychology (and indeed any science/social science!). Even if your experience is an minimal as can be, I'd love to help any way that I can. I take a relaxed and friendly approach to teaching, and aim to center my lessons as much as possible around the student's needs and goals. About me: I have an undergraduate Psychology (MA) degree from the University of Glasgow, and am currently in my third year of a part-time MSc in Data Analytics at the same institution. I focused my dissertation on cognitive phenomena in Psychology on a couple of mammoth datasets from previously published papers, gaining extra experience in stats and R programming applications within Psychology. I also have four years of experience as a tutor (3 years tutoring English, one year with Stats and Psychology), helping many students demystify stats and boost grades for their projects while having fun along the way! If interested, simply get in touch and I'll see what I can do to help. Have a great day!
AnthoniApplying and Understanding APA (6th) Format and Referencing for Undergraduate Psychology Students
Starting out at university is difficult enough - your work is suddenly anticipated to be of a stratospheric standard while you are still settling in to a new way of life. You're affronted with new depths to your chosen field that you hadn't accounted for - and to make matters worse, everything has to be formatted in a new (to you) style called APA format. APA formatting is a writing style and standard developed by the American Psychology Association, and many undergraduate psychology courses require all written coursework to be presented in this style; whether it be a scientific report or a long-form essay. Together we will spend these sessions breaking down exactly what the APA format is, and how to ensure all of your written work meets those standards. Throughout our sessions, we will cover how to use APA-style referencing, how to format our psychological reports (both Quantitative and Qualitative) via the use of appropriate headings and sub-headings, how to present statistics, and more. I am a recent BSc Psychology graduate holding a first-class degree. I achieved this by ensuring my academic writing style and grasp of the APA format was of a high standard. I look forward to sharing what I've learnt with you!
ModI LISTEN TO YOU - listening session (psychology) Developing well-being in oneself
Our current context imposes a lot of demands on all of us, I offer wellness courses to improve emotional feelings and mental state. I adapt my courses to your needs to offer effective strategies. I'm listening to you ! The objective of these courses is to identify your emotional or mental needs and to suggest methods of support. Listening is perhaps the greatest gift we can give someone. Listening is giving others what we may have never been given: attention, time, a benevolent presence - we all have secrets that we want to share at all costs, but we are afraid of being judged or all those sorrows that survive our childhood and which sometimes arouse in us the uncontrollable desire to say once and for all what we have on the heart. `` I LISTEN TO YOU '' -Listening is not trying to respond to those who are looking for themselves, saying or resonating in front of us. It is especially important to allow him to get along, to recognize himself, to find himself in the wanderings or the labyrinth of his thoughts. It is refusing to think for him, to give advice, and even to want to understand.
