Hello everyone! My name is Kiki, I am a linguist and a (Modern/Ancient) Greek language teacher, currently working on my PhD thesis on the intercultural expression of emotions. I am also a translator and a trained tour guide, constantly engaging in the interplay of language and culture! I live and work in Thessaloniki, Greece, and I 've been practicing teaching for over 15 years now, working within a whole variety of different environments and with people coming from a range of cultural backgrounds. One of the reasons I love teaching/translating is the ongoing process of exchanging knowledge of intercultural linguistic patterns that shape our everyday reality. I am constantly encouraging students of all ages to look out for more than grammatical rules and vocabulary, and to dig into the intriguing aspects of everyday communication. One of the most effective ways that I teach Greek lessons to students is by developing and presenting comprehensible and stimulating lesson plans that facilitate all learning styles. I am a native speaker of Greek. I graduated from a Greek high school and, later, the University of Athens where I attended courses in pedagogics, psychology, and linguistics. During our lessons, I'll help you develop your skills (oral/written, and not only). I'll also try to help you improve your pronunciation and spelling. I assign homework and after I receive it, correct it thoroughly additionally providing a lot of remarks/examples if they are necessary. I worked at a language center between 2009-2016 where I was a director of studies and taught mainly English as a foreign/second language. Since 2005, when I first started teaching Greek, I have taught children and adults on a variety of language proficiency levels, mainly individually. I constantly seek progress, meaning that I study further through reading books/articles concerning didactics/methodology and learning difficulties (chiefly dyslexia), observing other teachers as well as attending seminars (online or face-to-face). During my lessons I use : - Skype/Whatsapp/Messenger to connect with you, - Google Docs to keep notes, which you can check at any time and they are yours to keep, - sketch board me to make mind maps to show connections between ideas, etc. - books, PPP, word docs, diagrams, pics, etc. - pronunciation/spelling/grammar games, - authentic materials were taken from websites. I adore my profession and desire each and every one of my students be satisfied with the lesson. That's why I make sure the atmosphere is stress-free and nice. I also want my lessons to be as effective and close to real-life needs as possible. Therefore, I make sure they are well-prepared, although they can be altered at any point, should such an opportunity arise. Hello! My name is Erofili and I teach Modern Greek. I have more than ten years of experience teaching children, teenagers and adults. I have a Bachelor’s in English Language and a post-graduate degree in teaching methodology. I’m fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese and speak a little bit of Italian. I have travelled extensively, lived and taught in Italy and Spain so I’m quite familiar with different cultures and learning styles. When I teach a lesson I take into consideration two factors: Students’ needs and their interests. At the end of the class I want my students to have improved in their learning, to have enjoyed the class, to feel confident about themselves and motivated to continue learning..
