Hey! I'm Alena and here's my deal:

I speak 4 languages fluently and it wasn't an easy learning journey, but I've learned from my mistakes and the teachers' mistakes and I want to share my knowledge---teach you how to learn and embrace a foreign language.

My methodology is quite simple, really: I start by assessing the level and needs of the student, then we set clear goals and I adjust the learning materials and topics as needed, and then we dive into the process!

Now, what can you expect from our lessons? Lot's and lot's of oral and written practice, some light grammar and theory, idioms and expressions used by native speakers, chats about different topics (depending on your preference), a friendly atmosphere and total lack of judgment.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes, mistakes are proof that you're learning and growing :)

And here's some things you should probably know as well:
1. I'm not a fan of AI-based learning, so everything you will hear and learn comes from experience and is "handmade".
2. I'm very much queer and neurodivergent friendly, as well as an open-minded person in general.

I have a BA in Modern Languages (French, Spanish, German) and a MA in Translation (Spanish, French, English).

Additionally, I have completed a TEFL course (Teaching English as Foreign Language), as well as an ELE course (Spanish as a Foreign Language).

Experience / Qualifications

I've been teaching for 5+ years and I've plenty of experience, having worked in different countries (Spain, Russia, UK), with different languages (Spanish, Russian, English, French), ages and levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners.

The highlight of my career so far has been working as a Spanish Lector at the University of Kent where I taught different modules, including A Year In Spanish --an intensive program during which my students reached B2 in Spanish in just under 6 months-- and Spanish for students and staff of different levels.

I've also worked in language schools and as a private tutor and I've come to realise that the most effective teaching method is to be flexible and adaptable to the needs and capacities of the student.
