I’ve just finished a teacher training course at the Italian Cultural Institute of London where I’ve learned how to teach the language through different practices, both controlled and free. The student will practice the language, both oral and written, through the use of authentic materials provided on purpose while improving both fluency and accuracy.

About Me

I am a native Italian speaker and a certified Italian teacher.I have attended my teacher training the Italian Cultural Institute of London. During my academic career I have studied psycho linguistics with Professor Balboni, one of the luminary of the subject, and I have been a teaching assistant of Italian in California. My approach is based on the use of authentic materials and on an inductive method according to which the students discover the linguistic structures themselves.

Education

I have a Master in Comparative Literature at UCL, London. Before that I have studied foreign languages and literatures (English and French) in Venice, at Ca' Foscari University where I have attended also summer schools with Harvard and Columbia University. I have also another previous Joint Master's Degree in English and American Studies, during which I had the opportunity of spending one semester studying in Austria at Karl-Franzen-Universität in Graz, and another in California Long Beach at CSULB.

As an Italian Opera singer, I help since many years singers with the right pronunciation of the repertoire they sing, helping them in shaping the language in a clear way, which also helps the singing.

Our lesson will involve speaking, pronunciation exercises and singing.
We will start the lesson by reading the text and finding the right direction and emphasis.
We will focus on the sounds and how to produce them.
In the second part of the lesson, we will apply all of the above to the singing!

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.
