About Me

I have a good sense of humour and enjoy problem solving and helping people learn new skills. I love animals, travel, cinema, art and FOOD. I grew up in Italy, so I also speak fluent Italian. I love Latin American music and I secretly dance "salsa" in my kitchen (my dog leaves the room! ) I trained as a fine artist, so I also enjoy teaching English through art and other real world activities outside the classroom.

BA and MA in Fine Art and additional postgraduate studies in English for academic purposes, translation, and English language and linguistics. I also have a Cambridge CELTA (1996) and lots of additional professional development courses and certifications (incl. in TOEFL iBT and IELTS).

I have been teaching for over 20 years both as a freelance teacher, and in schools and Universities in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. I have coached students for IELTS and TOEFL exams as well as the Cambridge suite of examinations, and I have also been an examiner. I have a special interest in CLIL (teaching English through other activities such as visits to art galleries, cultural events, wine bars, sports etc.). Prior to teaching, I worked for many years in various industries (e.g. finance, medical, travel, catering, management consulting) so I also have a good grounding in several specialist genres of English.
