About Me

Hello! My name is Alondra and I am a passionate language teacher and learner! I started teaching almost four years ago and in this time I have had the opportunity to work with children, adults, and university students.
As a teacher, my strengths are that I am really energetic and patient, and that I am always willing to find the best way to help my students connect with what they are learning. My weaknesses: sometimes I crack really dorky jokes.
I have received linguistic training, and since I have taught Spanish to English speakers, as well as English to Spanish speakers, I am aware of the relations between the two languages. I use this knowledge to increase the student's comprehension of both languages.
I love sharing my knowledge with people who are eager to experience the world through another language (or people who just want to survive Mexico City). I love meeting people whose backgrounds are different than mine, for it allows me to deepen my understanding of different ways of thinking and living, as well as my own. I love talking about books, movies, music and places!

English: Cambridge- Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): Level C1 / TOEFL IPT: 600 pts
Spanish: BA in Spanish Language and Hispanic Literatures, UNAM (ongoing)
Teaching: Mellon Language Colloquium Saturday, November, 2018 (Oberlin College)

Experience / Qualifications

I spent a year (from August 2018 to June 2019) in Oberlin College (Ohio, USA) teaching Spanish to English speakers. Besides the oral command of the language, I taught them Academic Writing in Spanish.
As I mentioned before, I have been teaching English to Spanish Speakers since 2016.
