As I'm currently earning a second Bachelor's degree in English Language & Culture at Leiden University in the Netherlands, I am learning a great deal more about linguistics, pronunciation, grammar, academic research, writing, and how to facilitate effective communication in English. I'm specifically focused on English education through applied linguistics, language acquisition and performance methodologies, such as the use of English as a Lingua Franca amongst native and non-native speakers. Continuing education has helped me to recognize the enormous importance of individual learning in combination with group work/training and feedback to improve one's practice and performance. I am an Italian native speaker with a bachelor in Italian Literature and Linguistics. In Italy, I usually teach English to high school students​, or adults who want to improve their skills with this language. Usually, I tend to use a non-academic approach, by focusing on the student's interests and make him/her applying the language to their everyday life, instead of simply learning the grammar rules by heart. In the last few months, I worked as an English Teacher in a Refugee Camp and Greece and before that I worked as a Portuguese and English tutor to both middle school and high school students. I had a 8.5/9 IELTS score and have lived abroad for several years, so English is a language I'm really comfortable in speaking. I love creating worksheets and powerpoints. Although I am a trained philosophy teacher for secondary students, I have shifted my focus to tutoring English and Portuguese language learners. My goal is to provide dynamic classes that allow students to use functional language in real-world ways, but each class can be tailor-made to the individual's needs. I use Cambridge materials for my English classes, in addition to real-world texts and videos, to train students on grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.
