University researcher tutoring in Mathematics and Physics. Secondary school/university and casual learning. Including Cambridge STEP prep.

Hi! I am currently a post-doctoral researcher in computational biophysics, machine learning and computational biology at EPFL. I maintain two Python libraries for Topological Data Analysis and pyflagser.

I have previously been a post-doctoral researcher in Mathematical Physics at the University of Bern, where my research was concerned with the interplay between quantum mechanics and Einstein’s theory of general relativity.

I have been teaching at various levels since I was a PhD student at the University of York (UK), and more recently I was part of the cutting-edge educational project Isaac Physics in Physics/Maths/Chemistry at the University of Cambridge.

Here is my teaching experience so far:

- As a PhD student, I taught seminars in several of the undergraduate modules taught by the Department of Mathematics. In total, I have around 500 contact hours of experience in seminar teaching and marking, all of which I have found to be very rewarding.

- As a PhD student, I jointly ran a course for talented high school student wishing to be admitted at high-rank universities, and in particular wishing to pass interviews and the STEP admission paper for entry at Cambridge.

- As part of the Isaac Physics project, I created or helped create some of the online content such as theory pages, problems and books. In particular I helped put together a book on GCSE physics and one on A-level chemistry. Again as part of Isaac Physics, I gave seminars to a variety of high school students and interacted with local teachers to communicate the Isaac Physics philosophy and methodology. I also have some experience giving online YouTube webinars.

- Throughout, I have been offering one-to-one tuition to A-level/IB students, university students and adult casual learners.

I am happy to travel within about 4-5km of my postcode 1008 in Prilly. Alternatively, I can offer webcam lessons at a discounted price.

Tutoring in math/physics for school, gymnasium, UNI/HEIG-VD
PURPOSE: We will go through the difficult exercises you have in math/physics class discussing method of approach and problem solving. My goal is to help you acquire a better understanding of math and physics as well as teach you good habits in solving typical exercises. LOCATION / TIMETABLE: The course can be given via a videoconference platform (Zoom/Teams/Google meet) or I can travel to the Lausanne and Yverdon region to a location of your choice. ABOUT ME: Currently I am a master student at EPFL (university), maths and physics are predominant branches, with an average of around 5/6 on my bachelor. SCHOOL/GYM: Maths is the major part of what we will see. But in addition, we can approach other branches such as German or English alongside. I have the equivalent of a C1 in the two languages that I acquired by having the maturity of a Swiss-German gymnasium and having done a year of exchange abroad during my bachelor's degree. UNI/HEIG-VD: Maths such as algebra (matrix calculus), analysis (functions, integrals and derivatives), probabilities and vector geometry are well within my reach.

Omar
Student at EPFL, I give private lessons in math, physics and chemistry
I do personalized lessons according to the student by trying to understand the reason for the difficulties encountered, by developing his faculties and by improving the relationship of the student to the subject taught. I can insist on the understanding of the material and review elements of theories and ensure that the important concepts are understood or embark on the exercises which make it possible to apply various methods of resolution and identify the usual pitfalls or so on the success of an examination according to the situation.

Recently graduated from EPFL in Environmental Sciences and Engineering, with a specialization in water, soil and ecosystem engineering, I offer individualized support to fill gaps in mathematics (analysis, linear algebra, numerical analysis, probabilities) and / or in other basic sciences (chemistry, environmental sciences, etc.). As a part-time correspondent for a French-speaking daily, I can also provide support in French for all types of editorial work. Substitute for nearly two months in a college in the Lausanne region, I know how to demonstrate pedagogy and adapt myself as well as possible to the difficulties encountered by the students, in order to offer them the learning method best suited to their needs, the while combining rigor and good humor :)

Physics and Chemistry Maths lessons for high school students!
Hello, I am an EPFL graduate student who has followed and helped more than 50 students to pass their year for maths, physics and chemistry. Last year I had 4 students who were taking their exams to obtain their federal maturities (private school) and contacted me for regular courses during the year. They all had excellent results in maths and physics. I even have a student who had 6 in her federal math exam….. (she didn't know much before starting lessons with me and now she's a hit!) If you need help, I offer group and individual lessons in Lausanne (1014) or by zoom (depending on your preference). Individual lesson (1 person) Group lessons (2 people) Group lessons (3 people) Questions or you can already book your first lesson

Biology course - Gymnasium and Bachelor - Sciences / Mathematics / French - 9 to 11th HarmoS
Holder of a Master in Neuroscience from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva and wishing to direct myself towards teaching, I give Biology courses for students at the Gymnasium or in Bachelor. 9 years ago, I started to give tutoring lessons in Mathematics, Sciences and French for the youngest, which allowed me to improve my pedagogy and to better adapt to each student. . I have always had fun teaching and this is what, in part, led me to take the path of teaching. This is also why I still offer my help in these same branches for students from 9 to 11th HarmoS. On the other hand, my years of studies at the Gymnasium in Biology-Chemistry option and my Bachelor of Biology allowed me to have very good knowledge of the subjects taught in Lausanne. I am attentive and attentive, the idea being to find the best possible method of understanding and learning for everyone! Whether for regular or one-off courses, do not hesitate to contact me!
