University researcher tutoring in Mathematics and Physics. Secondary school/university and casual learning. Including Cambridge STEP prep.

Hi! I am currently a post-doctoral researcher in computational biophysics, machine learning and computational biology at EPFL. I maintain two Python libraries for Topological Data Analysis and pyflagser.

I have previously been a post-doctoral researcher in Mathematical Physics at the University of Bern, where my research was concerned with the interplay between quantum mechanics and Einstein’s theory of general relativity.

I have been teaching at various levels since I was a PhD student at the University of York (UK), and more recently I was part of the cutting-edge educational project Isaac Physics in Physics/Maths/Chemistry at the University of Cambridge.

Here is my teaching experience so far:

- As a PhD student, I taught seminars in several of the undergraduate modules taught by the Department of Mathematics. In total, I have around 500 contact hours of experience in seminar teaching and marking, all of which I have found to be very rewarding.

- As a PhD student, I jointly ran a course for talented high school student wishing to be admitted at high-rank universities, and in particular wishing to pass interviews and the STEP admission paper for entry at Cambridge.

- As part of the Isaac Physics project, I created or helped create some of the online content such as theory pages, problems and books. In particular I helped put together a book on GCSE physics and one on A-level chemistry. Again as part of Isaac Physics, I gave seminars to a variety of high school students and interacted with local teachers to communicate the Isaac Physics philosophy and methodology. I also have some experience giving online YouTube webinars.

- Throughout, I have been offering one-to-one tuition to A-level/IB students, university students and adult casual learners.

I am happy to travel within about 4-5km of my postcode 1008 in Prilly. Alternatively, I can offer webcam lessons at a discounted price.

Mathematics and Physics tutoring at the High School level
The purpose of this class would be to identify the level of the student, identify missing knowledge, set target level and gradually and systematically fill in the gaps. This can be done in the following areas: 1) Mechanics (physics) 2) Electromagnetism (physics) 3) Atomic physics 4) Infinitesimal calculus: derivatives, integration, differential equation (math) 5) Probability theory (math)

I am a student specialized in Computational Neurosciences at EPFL (MSc). I have gained extended knowledge on science related disciplines such as Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Programming. My goal is to encourage students to gain further interest in the discipline to help them pass their exams. Also, I am very used to giving English classes, as I am a native English speaker (from the UK).

Arthur
Maths, physics and French lessons for students up to gymnasium and French for seniors looking to improve their proficiency level.
I help people from primary to gymnasium improve their proficiency level in french at writting and speaking. And because i have a background in Engeneering studies i can also help in Mathematics and physics. Same goes with adults willing to learn french and for those who needsto start with the basics in English

Pierre-Olivier
Maths / Physics accessible to all - Doctor of Physics gives courses for all levels in Lausanne and surroundings (FR / EN)
Understanding and mastering a subject requires developing an intuition: in order to know which method to apply to solve a given problem, one must also understand why these methods work. My goal is to support each student in the development of this intuition through simple illustrative examples, while maintaining a constant dialogue in order to identify errors in reasoning. The course of each session adapts to the needs of each student. A course typically takes place as follows: (i) Planning the session according to the student's needs (material covered in class, homework to be completed, tests, subjects not understood, etc.) (ii) Presentation of the material (iii) Illustration of the material by examples (iv) Summary of key points and planning for the next session

I am a mechanical engineering student, so I have deep knowledge in both math and physics and I am willing to help you get through your tough chapters. My class is very adaptive to each and everyone's needs, and most importantly your specific learning speed and technique.

Lionel
Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science course in Lausanne by EPFL graduate engineer
I teach physics, computer science (C ++, Python, Matlab) and mathematics in Lausanne for students from universities, gymnasium or secondary schools. One of my main goals is to inspire motivation and interest in the subject matter. The branches I teach are those I have always loved, and I try to pass on my passion to the student. I try to find the nature of the difficulty on which the student blocks to bring him a fresh and refined vision of the subject. The points identified as delicate for the student will be regularly repeated so as to develop an intuition for the subject. I emphasize good problem-solving practices as they were taught to me during my studies. Do not hesitate to contact me, I would be happy to answer you.

Henrik
Computer course, mathematics, physics, english
Engineer in software development, I offer courses and homework help in computer science, mathematics, physics and English (I have the Cambridge ESOL: Advanced and have a bilingual level). My goal is to provide students with the necessary tools to facilitate understanding and have a solid foundation. The computer courses can be in the following subjects: Java, C ++, C, SQL, web development (HTML, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, PHP), C #, NodeJS. 3 years of experience at EPFL.

Camille
Summer school / Mathematics-science-physics-chemistry-mechanics-technical drawing-french-biology
Trainee at EPFL, I am an engineering student and master student in bioengineering. During my studies, I often had to accompany students who are younger than me with difficulties in their studies. This support is particularly important to me because, during my studies, I benefited from this type of support and helped me better understand my classes. Also, it is important for me to perpetuate this dynamic of transmission and sharing.
