Do you want to play the harpsichord, basso continuo, or piano? I am a professional harpsichordist, concert performer a​nd teacher based in The Hague who was working in a Conservatory and many music schools during my studies. We can make a flexible schedule depending on your plans.

It doesn't matter what level you have, how old you are or which reason you have to learn music. My lessons are adjusted to everybody's level and age. I like to encourage curiosity and I adapt the lessons to the student's interests and needs by offering knowledge in a personalized and structured way. The pillars of my teaching are patience and kindness. About me: My name is Uma and I come from Spain. I have lived in the Hague since two years ago. I did my first bachelor in modern flute in Madrid (RCSMM), graduated from my master in Zürich (ZHdK) and am currently doing a bachelor in Historical Informed Performance Practice (HIPP) on historical flutes at the Koninklijk Conservatorium den Haag. I have more than 10 years of teaching experience, and I keep learning and educating myself pedagogically in order to find the best balance and way to teach for my students. I'm offering productive music lessons in a friendly environment. I'll guide your development from any level. My name is Carla Peña and I come from Barcelona. Since I was a child, music has played an important role in my life. I started learning music when I was 4 years old and cello when at the age of 6. I discovered my love for music and that is what I share with my students. I have around 15 pupils of all levels and ages and I teach at my own studio (De Constant Rebecquestraat 3) or at your place! If you are in The Hague area and you want to learn the cello or improve your playing, you are welcome to do lessons with me! FIRST LESSON: The first lesson consists of getting to know each other. This is essential to choose the best teaching approach. All the students are unique, that is why I always choose the method that adapts better to your needs. Then, we elaborate a personal plan, depending on your level, expectations, practice time, and taste. TECHNIQUE: Learning the proper technique of the instrument is very important to avoid injuries and to be able to express ourselves and perform our musical ideas in a successful way. That is why we learn nice songs in different styles, depending on your taste (from classical to jazz, film music, pop, etc.) and we combine it with cello method books with progressive exercises to improve the cello knowledge. In the case of young beginners, we also play cello games during the lesson to make the learning experience dynamic and fun! Children can lose attention and get bored very quickly! Playing together is an essential part of enjoying music. Therefore, the last part of the lesson always consists of playing cello duets and having fun! ABOUT ME: I studied my Bachelor in Conservatori Superior del Liceu in Barcelona, with professor Amparo Lacruz. Then, I decided to continue my studies at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the class of Michel Strauss and Jan-Ype Nota. During my studies in The Hague, I did a teaching internship at the Royal Conservatory as a part of their Minor in Music Education. I also taught in several Music Schools during my studies in Spain. Currently, I teach private students in The Hague and I created a cultural center in The Hague called Pandora Studio. I play regularly in two chamber music ensembles: Trio Jakob and Azalaïs Quartet.

We will focus on the music that You want to be able to make. I specialise in Composition and have a life long experience with the guitar, piano and songwriting (including production and mixing). Our goal will be to plan a project (recording, youtube video, spotify, live performance, etc.) and set a timeline to make it happen. The tutoring will focus on technical, as well as artistic issues and above all, it will be result oriented.

The structure of the lesson is based on the pupil’s preference in music style, instrument combinations and others. We will talk about the harmony, rhythm and form while the pupil will be asked to create his/her own short works/songs. I always find fascinating to analyze music of the past (for example some of your favorite songs, instrumental works and others) in order to gain a deeper understanding of how these were created and from what musical ingredients they consist. Furthermore, integral part of this course is the understanding of the possibilities of each instrument and the combination of more than one. In this course, you can also learn how to use music notation softwares such as Finale and Musescore in order to notate your own music easily and fast.
