Professional Music Therapy sessions (individual or group)

I am a professional violinist and professional music-therapist.
Music has been found to have curative, therapeutic, and other medical values for human well-being and its physical, mental, and social effects have been documented throughout history. In addition to its potential of relieving e.g. physical pain and stress, music has been considered as a powerful resource for the social aspects of healthcare and well-being, which suggests that music can provide and cultivate several aspects of human well-being.

I have worked with different disabilities but I have focused my music-therapy work on deafness, autism, elderly with dementia and ADHD. I offer music-therapy sessions (individual or group) to work with people in personalised sessions. Contact me if you want to know more about it.

About Me

I am a professional Spanish violinist currently living and working in the Netherlands. I have finished my master's studies in the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen last year and I already finished a Music-Therapy master in Spain. Because of that my work is based on teaching, performing, and also giving music-therapy sessions.

I really like to teach and have a personal approach to each student so I find out what is the best for each student to achieve their goals with the violin.

Education

Background Education:

+ Bachelor Degree in Classical Violin Performance (Spain).
+ Master Degree in Classical Violin Performance (the Netherlands).
+ Master Degree in Music therapy (Spain).

Experience / Qualifications

I have been teaching violin and music theory for more than 10 years now, to different age students (from 4 to 50 years old) and different levels. I also have experience teaching violin group class, and I also teach different music styles with the violin (jazz, country, improvisation).

I have been working in different health care settings for 7 years now. I have worked as a music-therapist in elderly homes, kid facilities and hospitals and I have focused my work on deafness, elderly with dementia, ADHD and autism. I am currently working as a violinist in different health care contexts in the Netherlands.

Excellent teacher. As a beginner, I highly recommend.
I'm happy I found Sara as a teacher. She is professional, attentive, full of useful advice and packs a lot into her lessons.
Useful lessons to improve the technique. Sara really paid attention to what to improve and was friendly, so the lesson was relaxed and pleasant.
the lessons are really helpful. I think Sara knows what she is doing and what to pay attention to, so I am sure that she can help me to improve my violin playing in the future!
I am a professional violinist currently living in Groningen. The violin lessons are for all levels and ages from technique and classical violin to a more modern and gypsy violin playing (jazz, improvisation). What you want to learn is up to you but I will help you to find out the best way to achieve your goal with the instrument. We can flexibly arrange the place and the frequency of the lessons each time we meet. Let's have fun making music together!!

Turkish woodwind flute (Ney) lessons for beginners
Turkish reed flute is an essential instrument of Turkish Classcial Music. It has a deep and dense culture dating from 13. century around. If you want to learn about how to perform it you first need a teacher educated by masters on this field. As of many teachers you can find online but you make sure that not every tutor meets with traditional style. Solfege and method are inseperable parts of the lessons. So for beginners and intermediate students must follow a compotent tutor to learn about the way of classic form.

Guitar workshops: personalized lessons / private training
Folk or classical acoustic guitar. The teaching philosophy is adapted to the level of each individual, according to the pace of work and motivation. For example, for beginners: Technique of the plectrum or fingers, coordination and correction of the right and left hand. Learning basic chords, simple themes, simple rhythms, reading tablatures (…). For intermediaries: development of rhythm, construction of chords, writing of tablatures, basic notions of harmony (…). Depending on your goals, you can learn, if you wish, to play 60 to 80% of current music from the first lessons, which often use the same chords and the same techniques. The objectives take into consideration the following points: -Study of various playing techniques, chords, harmony, music of your choice, rhythm, with reading of tablature, teaching structured around the repertoire you like, technique of developing the musical ear - Discovery of the neck, notes and basic positions of open chords - Left / right hand coordination and rhythm exercises for the right hand - Learning of different pieces of your choice - Left hand control exercises, speed and precision - Learning arpeggios - Work around muscle memory - Learning improvisation, musical play with others - Ear training: use your ears to find chords, melodies, sounds and techniques used -Spend a pleasant moment of exchange, without unnecessary institutional pressure, while obtaining concrete results -Understand and discover the many facets of an exciting and user-friendly instrument - Benefit from personalized advice on your posture and certain pitfalls to avoid when starting alone -Adjust and clarify your self-taught knowledge - Learn tablatures / tabs & in English. Note : - Possibility to use the guitar available on site, during the test phase. - As our teacher is also a singing teacher, it is possible to combine the two disciplines: guitar + vocal instrument, and to work on synchronization, style and accuracy. - Possibility of offering this course (birthday, party, Christmas, event ...) to the person of your choice. THE TEACHER : Trained in Grande Ecole post-preparatory classes & Ivy League university in the United States, our teacher has specialized and has worked for more than 15 years, in Europe and North America, in the field, in renowned international public and private establishments, with careful pedagogy and methodology as the watchwords. PLACES : - Locations: Geneva-Lausanne-Friborg-Neuchâtel-Montreux-Bâle-Sion-Sierre-Morges-Bienne. But currently, only by videoconference in accordance with national recommendations on Covid. These sessions also seem to be perfectly unanimous since they have the advantages of direct (example: quality of the interaction), without its disadvantages (ex: loss of travel time), with additional advantages (ex: of notes on the chat, which can be reread afterwards). In this context, these videoconference sessions for which you have requested me, seem to arouse a certain enthusiasm (and a certain enthusiasm). At your request, I therefore continue to offer them.

Music Theory and Ear Training Classes - Teoria e solfeggio
Hello! Being a singer and a singing teacher, many many times I have found myself in the situation of having to work on ear training, or solfège, or music theory… or all the above listed! Approaching music and having no clue of these elements can totally be intimidating and off-putting, but in 2023 I feel like it’s a pity that these subject still are looked at with such a fear. I want to prove to you that building these basic knowledge can be easy, accessible and not heavy at all! My program is not fixed: I’ll build it on your specific needs, wether they are preparing an exam, curiosity, getting better at pitch matching… we will discuss together. I have many books and material, and I honestly prefer to draw blackboards by myself a lot of times. Unless you will want to, I won’t ask you to buy any material, so the only cost that you will have to sustain, is for the time of the class.

Fun and effective online tutoring: intensive/weekly
My teaching method emphasizes student participation in the learning process. Fun activities are a key element of this pedagogy. They can take different forms, such as interactive exercises, quizzes, serious games, etc. I think a teacher should play the role of a guide rather than an absolute holder of knowledge. A guide that highlights student progress through structured and constant monitoring. Who am I ? After obtaining the 'transmedia' master's degree at Sciences Po Grenoble, I continued my career as a journalist and teacher. I thus had the opportunity to create a variety of training courses, for students of all levels and of all ages. I led a 'journalism - artistic project management' workshop for L1 students from the European School of Art in Brittany - Lorient site, I gave weekly French lessons via the Gumtree platform, j I was a tutoring teacher at the Obrajes prison primary school in Bolivia, and recently I led a Storytelling seminar with students from the Editorial Strategies master's program at Sup de Pub Lyon. This eclectic background has allowed me to develop my ability to adapt in terms of pedagogy with students. My teaching thus passes above all by an observation of the pupil, his personality, his difficulties, his objectives. My methodology I adapt to the level and needs of the student regardless of his profile. A typical lesson plan: 1 - targeting of needs and roadmap to improvement 2 - theory to understand future exercises: explanations of concepts, methodologies 3 - we go into practice with playful exercises - as far as possible, and where the student applies the method/notions studied by playing an active role 4 - feedback: we correct the exercises together 6 - the end of the session is dedicated to a time of synthesis so that the student understands what the course was used for and that he does not leave the course with still uncertain points on the lesson. Pleasure of meeting !

Private Cello Lessons - Learn from a Multi-instrumentalist Singer-Songwriter
Each session will be structured around a combination of essential techniques, music theory, and, of course, actual playtime. We will start with mastering the basic cello postures, proper finger positioning, and bowing techniques, ensuring that students build a strong foundation. As we progress, we will delve into complex aspects like vibrato, scales, and sight-reading. In my class, expect a nurturing and supportive environment where mistakes are seen as opportunities for learning. I am dedicated to making the cello an extension of the student's own voice, and I look forward to embarking on this musical journey together.

Singing lessons online! No music experience required
I am a professional singer, pianist and recording artist. I graduated from Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda with a Bachelors of Music, specifically voice. Voice students can expect to improve week to week in their vocal technique. Every voice has a unique timbre; I teach students to release built up tension and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound. I can help any student to sing with freedom, confidence, and expression. As a professional recording artist I am working on the Spanish versión of a children's music project from Portugal. I love to mentor students who want to become effective, dynamic musicians. My personal passion is jazz music but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!
