I'm a professional musician ending my studies at The Royal Conservatory of Brussels, I have been teaching for many years in different music schools, I have a lot of experience teaching adults and children, and I give lessons for all levels, beginners, intermediate or advance , I adapt the lessons to the needs of the student. My music specialty is Jazz music, but I teach Classic and modern music too. Or if you leave too far, I can come to your place. My name is Matteo and I am an Italian flutist and musicologist, based in Brussels since 2010. I graduated in modern flute at 'B. Marcello' Conservatory in Venice and at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels with Barthold Kuijken and Frank Theuns in the Baroque flute. I hold a master degree in Philosophy and Musicology as well. I hold a PhD degree in music performance at Cardiff University, School of Music. From 2013 till 2015, I have been teaching at the Venice Conservatory "B. Marcello", giving yearly lectures and seminaries on the historical repertoire for the flute. Since 2021, I have been appointed music curator of Coudenberg Sound Box Fest, a music festival which aims at celebrating the Belgian music heritage and takes place every year at the beautiful archeological site of the former Royal Palace of Brussels. I recorded for Warner Classics & Erato, and a soloist for Arcana/Outhere Music ('La solitude à deux. Solos and duets by G. P. Telemann' in 2018 and 'Affect is no Crime. New music for old instruments' in 2019). I regularly play with leading ensembles and orchestras such as Millennium Orchestra (Leonardo Garcia Alarcon), Vox Luminis (Lionel Meunier), Les Muffatti (Peter van Heyghen), Coro & Orchestra Ghislieri (Giulio Prandi), Le Concert d'Anvers (Bart van Reyn), B.O.X. The shinobue is a flute that is used in street music but also in more sophisticated artistic performances. Japanese music has developed its own conception of beauty. Learning this music is a way to enter Japanese culture! Traditionally, Japanese music is learned orally through shoga (a song using onomatopoeia). During the course, you also experience this method and will learn several types of music. I was pleasantly surprised that she played Western classical music, contemporary music and also Japanese music. With Nozomi's knowledge of Western and Japanese music culture, it is always very inspiring for me to learn from her. Eventually, I might become a member of the Kagura band and I hope to be able to play contemporary music too in the near future. By studying shinobue, I can deepen my knowledge, insight and experience of traditional Japanese crafts and arts. Nozomi, thank you very much. I started playing several scores with the other students. Together we participated in an end of year show. I am very happy to have the opportunity to share the delicate sound of shinobue with others. Recently graduated from a State Diploma of flute teacher at CEFEDEM in Normandy (France), I received a very complete and exciting training on pedagogy and on the profession of music teacher. Currently, I am a Master's student at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels after having obtained a license as an interpreter at the Conservatory of Versailles. I have been teaching for years (in private lessons, in music school, as a replacement in conservatories...) and pedagogy has always been a profession of passion for me. During my lessons, I listen to everyone's requests, and it is with joy that I offer a repertoire and scores in accordance with the desires and needs (classical music, traditional music, early music, current, jazz...). I base my lessons on an approach to posture and breathing to allow flautists (beginners and advanced alike) to fully develop in their practice. During the lessons, I also like to accompany the student on the flute to allow him to make chamber music and to learn to listen and play with other musicians.

Graduated in classical flute at the Academy, student at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in jazz flute. The student-teacher relationship is very important in my opinion in whatever subject. Being passionate about music, I intend to transmit this passion to my students by allowing them to explore their own voice and individual creativity. Expressing yourself musically requires a lot of technique and know-how, but everyone is capable of it with a little willpower! I mainly teach classical or jazz transverse flute. the saxophone I only teach beginners and only jazz.

Lessons are individually and carefully adapted to the student’s age, level, and desired outcome. From the youngest students, to whom the music and playing the basics are served playfully based on making the music an important part of their development to advanced students with whom we can refine all the musical details and prepare for professional careers.

The flute is a very delicate and "light" instrument but is much more than that! With this lessons I want to share my knowledge about this amazing instrument. I will adapt myself to the level of the different students and will also adjust my way of teaching. We can work on sound, embochure, posture, music theory, studies and for sure melodies and even duets! I have experience in different styles such as barroque music, classical, romantique, comtemporary, chôrinho, etc... (we can choose what fits you better, or maybe do them all!). I also play the piccolo, wich would be a nice "candy" for you to try on, if you dont play it already. The main goal after all, is that you are comfortable and excited to explore and learn new things while having fun!
