I offer cello and music lessons at home for all ages from 7 years old, beginner or not. As an indication, I like working with the Feuillard method, I of course adapt to the desires and objectives of each student. As a recent graduate in Bachelor of Arts of Music (piano major) at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Brussels, my aim is to give people the power to enrich their lives through music! Years of experience in teaching have allowed me to be flexible enough to organize myself accordingly to the students' desires and needs: this means that the way the classes develop are up to the student. The pieces that are played are chosen by you (classical, pop, jazz), and depending on the level you wish to achieve, I may give some of my own exercises to allow more familiarity with the piano. [ENGLISH, SEE BELOW] A music theory course for anyone who wants to start with a solid foundation in music, or for an already advanced musician who wants to go further. This course is also perfect for an academy or conservatory student who wishes to prepare for the music theory exam. Despite the fact that this is a so-called theoretical course, everything that is seen will first be worked on in a musical context and experienced by the student in order to be assimilated. The theoretical explanations will follow from it by itself. On the program (student's choice) - Ear training (knowing how to rewrite melodies with one or more voices, chords, etc.) - Note readings in one or more keys - Rhythm readings, polyrhythmic work - Encryption and recognition of agreements, - Transposition. This musical theory lesson suits to every level, from the one who wants to learn how to read music to the one who wants to know more about chords, transposition or polyrythms. This lesson is also perfect for a student who wants to prepare an examination. In despite the fact I called these lesson "Musical theory", it is firstly about understanding the music. And that can only be possible by ... doing music. So be aware that we will be singing, playing chords, clapping rhythms, ... My purpose is that the student understand by himself first, then the theory will come naturally. What we can do during a lesson (student can choose): - Ear training (Learn to catch a melody of one or several voices and write it down by ear, recognizing chords, recognizing rhythms, ...) - Rythmical work: learn to clap different rhythms in different time signatures. Also included polyrythms. - Key reading, in one or several keys. - Transposition (learn how to read a flute sheet while you're playing trumpet, ..)

< Learning Piano is not merely about playing the piano > Before starting to learn the piano, it’s essential to recognise that : '' What we are actually learning is "Music", but not only "Piano". '' The goal of learning any instrument is to acquire the language of music, enabling us to express ourselves and enjoy music with others. Playing the piano is for creating beautiful sounds, not really for developing finger speed or strength. That’s the function of gym. < Music is like cooking > When we cook, to make a roast beaf tender, of course it’s nice to have a tender heart, but without knowing how to control the temperature, the roast beaf won’t become tender merely by our tender heart. By only adding salt, the dish won’t be sweet. Similarly, simply playing or writing a C major triad chord won’t convey a sorrowful feeling. To create the feeling we want, no matter how much sentiment we have in our hearts, to convey it via music, it needs to be translated into the language which piano can understand, which means, how we press and lift the keys and pedals. Similarly, when we compose, it needs to be transferred into chords, notes we write. < Difference between an audience and a musician > There is a common belief that a musician can make music with sentiment or feeling. While it’s partially true, the most essential thing is knowing ‘’How’’ to create the sound that conveys the feeling we want, rather than merely knowing ‘’What’' feeling we want to convey. The understanding of the mechanism behind music is essential, as cooking, and that is the difference between an audience and a musician. As an audience, one can simply feel the music. Like a chief who knows how to create a specific flavour to convey, a musician knows how to create the sound which can convey the feeling we want. While knowing which feeling we want is great, it’s merely the first step. Your emotions are not too different from Chopin, Beethoven, Adele or Taylor Swift, otherwise they can’t resonate with you. But they know how to create the sound that conveys the feeling they want to their audience. < Course Content > I consider my course to be a form of "Music Consultation" because it contains a wide range of subjects which are essential to a professional musician. While we focus on piano playing, there are also music theory, music history, instrument construction, ergonomics for performers, analysis of composer styles, composition, arrangement, recording, MIDI, computer music, the physics of sound, and more. In avoid of confusion, let’s still call my course as "Piano Course”. < Duration > For each course, I will reserve at least 70 minutes in my schedule for you, including 60 minutes of class time and additional 10 minutes for discussion and any questions you may have. This will ensure that your courses are not rushed by the next student. This ensures that there is enough time for you to solve your piano and music problems. < Recording > I highly encourage my students to record their progress. This can provide an objective standard for comparison and help you analyze your playing precisely. In my nine years of experience teaching music, I've found many students, including those advanced, already play certain sections very well, while other sections may not be not well enough. But they still try to improving those fine sections, while not aware of those weak sections. Without an objective reference, it’s hard to distribute our effort precisely. This can lead to not only unstable performance, but also practicing without a precise goal can easily reduce enthusiasm. Recording your results and comparing them with those recordings you like on YouTube or Spotify can be an effective way to analyze your playing and set precise goals. If you have a digital piano, I can help you produce a video of your performance for each session. This can be a tangible record of your efforts and you can share it with your friends and family via YouTube or other platforms.

I teach Classical Piano, Jazz, Pop, Variety, Rock, Solfege and Harmony, for beginners or for more advanced levels and for all ages (children, teenagers, adults). I also work with the singers who need to learn the chords and general bases of Harmony applied to the Piano.

Hello to everyone! My name is María, I am a Venezuelan Cellist. All my musical education was inside the musical program "El Sistema" in Venezuela. This education was based on preparing myself as a better human being though playing cello in orchestras, chamber music and as soloist. I am current studying my Master degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. In what consist my lessons? Cello classes for all levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced), it does not matter if you have never played cello before or if you are already studying, the important thing is to help you achieve the goals you want with this beautiful instrument. To have better results with practice, if it is necessary to help you with music theory, I will help you. As well, if you're looking for help in orchestral excerpts for auditions, I'm here for you! For kids, parental support is also important during some lesson, we are all a team and we need to work together to achieve the goals! During my training, I had the opportunity to study with famous teachers with whom I was able to discover different violin techniques and different pedagogical approaches, which allowed me to create my own methodology. If Italy gave me the passion of sharing and communication (a typical Italian characteristic), Belgium taught me to convey a message, an idea in a concrete way. My meeting with Mr Lawson also made me aware of the importance in the life of an artist to share his knowledge, and teaching is for me the best way to put this sharing into practice.

Concertist and teacher, Johanna studied piano solo at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin Hanns Eisler and now continues them as a Master at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. A committed pedagogue, Johanna favors the expansion of the repertoires mastered by her students, and associates improvisation, harmony and knowledge of the context (historical and musical) to these courses. She has taught at the Franco-German Music School in Berlin and at the Conservatoire in Rouen and now holds a class at the Ecole de Piano de Rouen. Johanna pursues a career as a concert artist, she plays regularly in chamber music with her trio Hémisphères and as a soloist in various repertoires in France and Germany _Paris, Berlin, Rouen, Baden-Baden, Aix-en-Provence ... She plays in the Musique Dans la rue, Piano Demain, Jeune Talents, Piano Tremplin festivals, and received a special prize. Graduated from the Hanns Eisler School in Berlin. she was a pupil of Stephen Arnold and Konrad Maria Engel. She is also a student of Frédéric Aguessy, and has benefited from lessons given by Jean-Claude Pennetier, Ralph Gothoni, Cécile Hugonnard-Roche, Anne Queffelec, Philippe Entremont, Yovan Markovitch, Isabel Charisius and Hervé Nkaoua. In addition, she followed a course in conducting, analysis, harpsichord and accompaniment.
