    About Me

As a producer, I have been releasing music commercially for around 18 years, mainly on the major Drum and Bass record labels such as Metalheadz and Hospital Records. I have also written 3 well-received albums and been involved in many collaborative projects.

Over the years I have worked in countless different studios and practiced a wide variety of different production techniques which has put me in a great position to teach.

As a teacher, I have a wealth of experience behind me. My first position after completing my teaching diploma was at London's leading music production collage Point Blank where I was their 'Introduction To Ableton Live' course tutor. I am also a regular tutor at various different studios in London.

I am as passionate about teaching and sharing my expertise as I am about producing music. I find it deeply rewarding to watch young producers develop their identity and their sound. Music is such a personal thing, so it's always so interesting and often really surprised to listen to how each student adapts the knowledge you have taught them.

My students can expect to walk away with much more than just textbook music production skills. I take great pride in nurturing young producers and helping them find their feet in the music industry. I will provide help and advice to them with everything from what equipment to invest into what record labels they should approach and will continue to mentor them long after their course is finished...

MAO class with a hyper-creative professional named Costals
I published music under the names of Gelivan and Costals. An album and EP in 2017 as Gelivan, then singles in 2019. In 2020 I will release a project a month, minimum, with several videos. My mission is to live music by December 31, 2020 with a prosperous income. I want to be a major player in the world of music and help young people to progress, excel and live. I have an approach that does not dwell too much on the technique, I work rather on the optimal conditioning to become a prolific creator while having fun. Our meetings, associated with your motivation and your daily constancy, will lead you to develop your creativity and will bring you an unequaled satisfaction. It is important that you are strongly determined to make the most of my support. I suggest we see each other once a week, ideally the same day at the same time to make it easier. To create my music, I mainly use Ableton Live, and I highly recommend this same program to my students. I also create a lot of sketches on my iPhone with the Auxy app. Suggestions of habits to develop to become a prolific creator and create a music of your own: - devote at least 10 minutes every day to musical creation - collect sounds that you find interesting - you can record what surrounds you with your smartphone, sample movie dialogues, bits of other music etc. - create a reference playlist with your favorite songs (the most varied possible) - listen actively for 15 minutes of different music, be attentive to the different elements and make notes on what touches us, several listening by focusing on different elements.

    Ableton & MaxMSP Lessons - in a͓̽m͓̽s͓̽t͓̽e͓̽r͓̽d͓̽a͓̽m͓̽
Ableton Live is a software music sequencer and digital audio workstation. In contrast to many other software sequencers, Live is designed to be an instrument for live performances as well as a tool for composing, recording, arranging, mixing, and mastering. Max, also known as Max/MSP/Jitter, is a visual programming language for music and multimedia. Over its more than thirty-year history, it has been used by composers, performers, software designers, researchers, and artists to create recordings, performances, and installations. Depending on your interest I will show you how to use and customise each program to your needs, but also show you how to combine the two in order to get the best of the 2 worlds. Ableton and MaxMSP are a killer combo for anyone that wants to: - expand their musical instrument with electronic extensions - create custom made controllers for their live performances - create complex automations for live or studio use - produce music, compose, arrange - create automated VJ sets to accompany their live performance - create a live looping performance - control backing tracks for live performances - work on generative music - program art installations and much more I will give you sets & patches with examples to accompany the lessons, but also help you build your own creations in MaxMSP or Ableton.

Live electronics: realizing its real-time environment with Max and Max for Live
Create your own programming environment for your performance. Max (Cycling 74) is a reference for real-time music programming, dedicated to performance and multimedia installations. The flexibility of the environment makes it possible to create a multitude of interfaces for the computer to communicate with any type of external sensor (gesture, movement, light, ...), in order to create interactive works. The integration into the Ableton Live software, thanks to Max for Live, makes it possible to design effects and personal devices, to then integrate them in a set Live.

Ableton and production skills. Get your ideas heard!
Ableton is a tool. Once you control it, you can turn any musical idea you have into reality. Pretty amazing right? To give you an idea, here are just some topics I can teach you about: - Working with audio and MIDI tracks - Synthesis - Creative sampling - Arrangement - Mixing and Mastering techniques - Effects and processing - Chords and Melodies etc. Feel free to bring up whatever you'd like to know more about. You choose what we'll talk about, of course! Apart from the software, there are certain guidelines concerning the structure and elements of a song: the arrangement. I can help you shape your raw idea into a complete song structure. All of this in a flexible and cooperative manner, where the creative vision of your music is key. I graduated as Music Producer and Sound Engineer at dBs Berlin. I played live shows at Tomorrowland, ADE etc. as LXNGTN. Latest release on Spotify: LXNGTN meets Fares - Seasons EP.
