Guitar Tutoring in Berlin for all ages and abilities.I am an experienced and enthusiastic guitar tutor from Leeds, England, living in Berlin. I have a bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar from Leeds College of Music although I also play and teach rock, pop, funk, folk and indie music.
In lessons I aim to get students playing something they know as soon as possible in order to get excited about progress early on. We balance this with paying attention to proper technique and having one eye on the theory behind what we are playing to broaden your understand of how music works.
I am actively engaged in playing within the music scene and have a real excitement for all types of music, whether it’s learning your first chords on guitar or working on improvisation or music theory. We'll go at the right pace for you and achieve your goals together.
I have experience teaching all ages and abilities of students, having taught in primary and secondary schools as well as private tuition for adults. From complete beginners to preparing a student for their college auditions.
Lessons are tailored to suit the needs of the student, in order to have lessons which push you to learn to the best of your ability whilst still being fun and musical.

The most important is to be in love with music and have a strong will to learn and enjoy.

Jazz / Classical piano lessons from awarding-winning British pianistTeaching is something I really enjoy. To impart knowledge to a student requires a level of understanding deeper than that of an ordinary performer, and I enjoy the challenge of expressing ideas in a personal way that is relevant to each student. To watch someone's love of music grow as a result of playing the piano is truly rewarding, and something I put a strong focus on. If you can learn to have fun at the piano and nurture your love of music it will become something truly life-affirming.
I teach on high-quality pianos . Lessons in English or German.

Reviews from my students:
"Mark is an incredibly gifted teacher and pianist. Being his student is always a pleasure, with a perfect balance of fun and discipline"
"I’m really satisfied, by both your technical knowledge and teaching skills"
"I absolutely love our lessons. I love it that you ask me how I am doing and adjust the lessons based on how I feel. I love it that sometimes you don't push me too hard, but sometimes you do and I am grateful for this. I love it that you have a certain trust in me and say that I will be able to play some pieces which gives me confidence. And lastly and most importantly, the myriad of thoughts that I always have in my head abandons me during our lessons, and this is such a fantastic feeling for which I am grateful too. Don't know what you could improve really"
"It was great! Mark was knowledgable and friendly, and got us up and running very quickly. Much appreciated :)"
"Mark has a very constructive guidance for music, and very comprehensive expression"
