About Me

I am a 22 years old Croatian student (well, ex-student right now). I finished my bachelor degree in pure mathematics last summer, and since then I've been working full-time as a tutor for the VU. I started tutoring for the VU in my second year of uni, though I've been unofficially doing it for much longer; since the last few years of my elementary school when I helped younger family friends with basic algebra, then in high school helping my classmates pass their end-of-school exams, and finally in the year before moving to Amsterdam, when I volunteered as an English Language tutor for the Association of Disabled Individuals of Zagreb. All of this experience taught me how to adapt my lecturing style to a wide range of individuals, from enthusiastic elderly people to not-so-enthusiastic kids who'd rather be doing anything else than learning long division :) I'm adaptable and passionate about my work, and the only thing that I expect from a student is that they are responsible with my time.

Education

- Bachelor of Mathematics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, majoring in Pure Mathematics, finished with a GPA of 8.1
- attended the Mathematics and Computer Science High School of Zagreb (MIOC)
- During my high school years, I frequently entered state organised Mathematics competitions, and most notably, finished 15th in Croatia in the year 2016

Experience / Qualifications

- Teaching Assistant at the VU for the past 3 years, assisting in the courses: Linear Algebra, Group Theory, Discrete Mathematics, Calculus, Differential Equations, Sets&Combinatorics, Statistics, Probability Theory, Numerical Methods (with programming in MATLAB), etc.
-Volunteer work for the Association of Disabled Individuals of Zagreb, teaching English

It covers a wide range of topics such as: calculus, analysis, (linear, vector, matrix) algebra, geometry, trigonometry, (basic) statistics, probability, combinatorics, business mathematics, as well as more abstract topics, such as topology, measure/integration theory and functional analysis. Depending on the student's requirements, lessons may consist of: - Providing a (comprehensive) overview of the course material, e.g. slides, lecture notes, etc. - Solving specific (types of) problems, exercises, and (old) exams. - Assisting with homework and assignments. - Setting up final reports and projects.

Math lessons with fun, a laugh and a good grade!
Mathematics is often a difficult subject for many students in high school. What I have noticed while learning math is that it is about the fun you have while learning to understand math. I will happily work with my students to ensure that they understand mathematics, enjoy it, and come home with great grades! At home, in the library, or online. As long as the lesson ends with a smile, I'm happy!

Master's student in mathematics brings you closer to a 10. Online help possible.
I believe anyone can learn math. And with an average rating of 8.5 for my exam training at, among others, lyceo, I have experienced a lot of others doing the same. We usually start with some (simple) exercises around the subject to gauge your understanding. This way I can construct a tailor-made approach that guarantees you will see the light. There are, of course, no real guarantees in education. But I can guarantee that after every hour of tutoring, you will be a little closer to the math genius that you really are. In addition, in the past two years, I have gained a lot of experience in online education. I now have a drawing tablet, an iPad, and an external microphone (worth 300 euros) to be able to deliver the best experience online. All levels are welcome, all ages. bring it on!

Mathematics and Physics in English, Spanish, Russian, and Catalan!
I am a bachelor student in Mathematics in Amsterdam and I have been a tutor for students of the International Baccalaureate for Math and Physics in the past, having graduated the IB myself. I prefer to do 1-on-1 tutoring and be able to focus on the student along with building a friendship with him/her and let the student be comfortable around me to be able to tackle the problems with more in-depth understanding once it arises. I have a certain passion for Math and Physics that has brought me to tutoring them and re-learning many things, which keeps me going!

Zayley
Elementary and GCSE Maths, English, Economics, Geography, Physics
I am currently enrolled to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics at King's College in London. For my GCSEs I received 10 A*s and for my International Baccalaureate I scored 40 points. My specialties are Maths, English, Geography and Economics. I would like to tutor children from the ages 6 to 16. My goal for my lessons is to help students with their homework, improve their general understanding of the subject and to prepare for exams. During high school I was a member of the National Honour Society whereby I tutored students younger than myself and my age twice a week, thus I have learnt how to better explain things and I know the importance of hard work. I am a firm believer of goal setting and visual learning and I am reliable, flexible and patient.

Mavi
Math, Physics and Science tutoring for children and teenagers: IB MYP, IGCSE, and GCSE.
I am Mavi, a physics engineer working at an aerospace company. I have been teaching private lessons at the primary, secondary, high school, and university preparatory levels for 9 years. I teach mathematics, physics, chemistry, and science. I have a good command of the curricula of IB, IGCSE, American, Hong Kong, and international schools. Additionally, I hold the position of president at the Astronomy Society, where I foster my students' interest in astronomy and science beyond the lessons. I prepare the learning environment by incorporating experiments and exploration, moving away from rote education. I often bring experimental materials to class, aiming to make learning memorable through hands-on experiments. As an educational mentor, I approach my students as if they were my siblings, valuing creativity. I have a deep passion for mathematics, physics, and science. I am dedicated to helping students understand and learn because life encompasses both SCIENCE and ART. The more people I can inspire to know, understand, and love mathematics, physics, and chemistry, the more proud I am. Are you curious about how nature works? Let's explore together!
