Law and Economics in today's global world | Discussion based

As a coherent interdisciplinary movement, the roots of law and economics can be traced back to the mid-twentieth century, when Ronald Coase pioneered the foundations of the field with his groundbreaking findings through interdisciplinary approaches. The movement gained prominence in the 1970s and 1980s through the work of Richard Posner and Guido Calabresi, who took the economic analysis into new unchartered territories such tort law , criminal justice , and emerging technologies. Today, it is one of the most established disciplines in law; policymakers (elected officials, judges, as well as, public administrators) seek its impact and influence.

This class focuses on the importance and impact of economic theory on legal jurisprudence in various pressing global issues: unfair competition, traditional and intellectual property rights, machine learning and artificial intelligence, global financial regulation, and legislative agendas.

About Me

I am passionate about teaching because I have experienced firsthand the impact of good teachers. I implement a plethora of methods to inspire students to learn and feel engaged. Students tell me that they particularly enjoy my ability to connect theoretical concepts with practical examples.

My careful observations of the teaching styles, methods, and philosophies that I experienced throughout my education give me a valuable collection of effective teaching techniques from which I draw. I also have been lucky to be surrounded by wonderful colleagues who have received many teaching awards and who have generously shared with me their insights.

In closing, when I entered college, I vacillated between a career in science and one in economics. Although I chose to do the latter, some key things that I learned in science still drive me. For example, the first law of thermodynamics states, “Energy cannot be created or destroyed in an isolated system.” As such, I approach every class full of enthusiasm and positive energy, as I want my students to feel invigorated and ready to take on the most challenging tasks of our society. And, if Mr. Newton is right, then I should also expect the counterreaction to be the same, which in turn makes teaching an enjoyable endeavor.

This class is designed to help you make sense of modern events as they relate to finance and trade. We will cover institutions like World Trade Organization, the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, European Central Bank and the Federal Reserve System. I will provide you with unique insights into these fields, given my personal professional experience. My goal is to keep my students challenged and to push them to think harder. I can be flexible about the schedule so let me know if you are interested but cannot make it due to conflicting schedules. I will try my best to match your schedule.
Do you want to get into a top PhD program in the United States? Do you want to attend the law school of your dreams? Are you not sure which university is your best fit? I can help you. I have worked in the admission's office of multiple higher education institutions in the United States and can share my insights on how you can succeed. I am also willing to meet at a cafe and go over this, as I think a relaxed setting would be best. I can be flexible about the schedule so let me know if you are interested but cannot make it due to conflicting schedules. I will try my best to match your schedule.
Do you want to understand the Trump phenomenon? Does the Democratic Party have a chance for a comeback? The focus of this class is to learn more about American politics and the pressing challenges that they will face in the next decade. Is American society becoming more capitalistic and conservative or is there something else going on? How can we address the polarisation in national politics? Is the local government the solution? What is the role of lobbyists, think tanks, and interested groups in all this? These are some of the questions that we will address. I can be flexible about the schedule so let me know if you are interested but cannot make it due to conflicting schedules. I will try my best to match your schedule.
The intent of this class is to provide an overview of the subject matter of international economics. It is relatively easy to motivate the study of international trade and finance. The front pages of newspapers, the covers of magazines, and the lead reports on television news broadcasts herald the interdependence of the world economy and financial results. Students may also recognize this interdependence through their purchases of imports of all sorts of goods, their personal observations of the effects of dislocations due to international competition and their experiences through traveling abroad. We discuss current political events and their impact on future economic trends. Will automation make us all lose our jobs? Does a trade war between the US and China necessarily mean trouble for the rest of the world? Is human capital (and de facto favorable immigration policies) the key to the future? Can an institution of higher education change their curriculums very often to keep pace with technological changes? These are just a few of the questions we explore in this class. I can be flexible about the schedule so let me know if you are interested but cannot make it due to conflicting schedules. I will try my best to match your schedule.
Besides my education in Financial Economics, I have a lot of personal experience from working in impact investing and other financial institutions in the United States. I share my own insights with you about what the best trading strategies are and I help identify companies that I think will make your investment worthwhile. I am also an avid trader myself in my personal life, so I have some skin in the game and will always recommend stocks that I have myself invested on, so you know my advice is genuine. Otherwise, we can focus our discussion towards new trading tools such as cryptocurrencies, new trading platforms, and the challenges associated with them. Please feel free to reach out if you have any concerns.

Geoffrey
Courses to learn again to learn
Welcome to all ! My name is Geoffrey, I am 21 years old and I am in first year of Master of International Law at the University of Cergy-Pontoise, after a degree in French Law obtained passable mention at the University of Mulhouse, and a bachelor's degree economic and social obtained good mention (14,297) at Lycée Notre-Dame les Oiseaux de Verneuil sur Seine. I give individual and group lessons, with a lot of fun, for almost a year already, in a wide range of subjects. In this context, I accumulate nearly a hundred hours of lessons in subjects such as English, mathematics, French but also in general support. My goal is to enable them to understand what they are doing, and thus prevent them from sinking into an automatic but unthinking application of what they are learning. It is to this end that I was able to give, also, mini-courses of support to comrades in university, especially during the periods of revision of the partial ones. In parallel, I am relatively familiar with languages, which have always been my favorite subjects and my favorite playground. Indeed, I am also a translator (English / German / Italian / French), proofreader and editor. In this context, I helped people in job search to write their CV and cover letter in French or in English. I was also able to help someone correct their book before the project was submitted to a publisher. As a teacher, I seek, as much as possible, to find methods that can go to all students. To this end, in English for example, I am always accompanied by a pair, to allow the student to have two points of view, two different explanations to enable him to better understand what is in question. In this context, I also ban any form of "academic" pedagogy, and I try to make my class a moment of exchange, interactivity and fun, the latter being in my opinion the best method to progress and to attract the attention of the student, even in the most difficult passages of his learning. This method has also borne fruit. Since the implementation of this pedagogy last January, my two students have progressed significantly in English. The first, which was thus intended to leave the USA, was able to leave serenely in the United States and cope properly even if at the beginning of the course, three weeks earlier, she did not speak English! In the same way, I am also currently taking charge of a second year student who also has difficulties in English. At present, we have swept the entire program by 6 ° -5 °, as well as a part of the 4 ° program and thus fill some of its gaps. Finally, I also take care of a student of first in French, with also results in the key. On the other hand, the pedagogy used here is more academic, high school French lending itself in my opinion less to pedagogies less "classical" and orchestrated than foreign languages. In all cases I invest a lot for my students. In English, it is thus very common that I prepare exercises, complete subjects so that the student can pound serenely from one session to another. It is also very common that I ask, if necessary, to have returns from both the student and his / her parents (if they are present), who always request and obtain a report at the end of the session, so to know where we are going. Transparency is my rule. For more information, do not hesitate to contact me.

Mathematics, Sciences (Physics and Chemistry), Economics, Management and Statistics
Classes will be given individually or in small groups. They can take place either at home or at the student's home or in his favorite place. The methodology used will be the following: theoretical reminders illustrated with examples followed by exercises and correction of interrogation to finish with the development of a synthesis and a real scenario by a simulation of examination. The goal will be to verify that the student has assimilated the theory. Then test your knowledge by solving exercises to maximize the student's chances of success and ensure that your exam performance is as conclusive as possible.
