MarcoMusic Production and Theory: Everything you need to know.
My name is Marco, and I am an Italian composer and sound designer working and living in Amsterdam. I studied Classical and Experimental Composition at the Conservatory, and then Communication Sciences and Technologies, and Sound Design at the University. After that, I spent the last 8 years producing music and sounds for advertisement, short movies, tv shows, documentaries, theatre, art installations, and so on.
This gave me a broad knowledge of how to write music in every different style, and how to do that fast.
This class starts with my experience, but I really want the students to build their own personalized plan, choosing on which of these areas to focus on:
-Arranging for Orchestra
-Introduction to Piano
-Introduction to Music Softwares (DAWs) and Plugins
-Electronic Music and Beats Production
If you need to take lessons at certain times excluded from my timetable feel free to contact me anyways and let's see what we can arrange.
Hope to hear from you soon!
JayRecording Techniques & Tips (for Professional Vocalists ONLY!)
Learn different recording techniques & tips towards quality voice and audio recordings, and develop in-studio efficiency in a relaxed and fun environment. We can instruct you on how to dub and layer vocals, ad-lib and produce quality sound that is specific to voice type and vocal register. Additionally, this class can teach you how to quickly develop a fluid communicatory dynamic with new sound engineers or visa versa, encourage productive and precise communication from sound engineer to recording artist. Other insights could include consultation for Future Sound Engineers and Recording Artists such as: where to make their sounds fuller, rounder, where to take breaths and/or change rhythms or shorten syllables where needed; how to take different creative songwriting or beat-building approaches to music. This course is only given in English. This is for individuals that are striving towards voice quality and enhanced composition in the English language. This is not a voice class nor a language class. It is a tutorial class for individuals who already have talents or aspirations and professionals seeking or in-training!
OlivierElectronic Music Production, Performance & Sound Design
My lessons are for anyone who wants to delve into electronic music & sound design.
As an experienced composer, producer and sound designer I specialize in applying my broad knowledge and experience in the field of music & technology. Most successful electronic musicians combine different skills, such as working with music production software and hardware, playing a keyboard, recording and mixing, but also music theory and composition techniques.
Because as an electronic musician you often have to deal with different instruments & other sound sources, my lessons are also very suitable if you want to learn to design your own sounds, not only to make music, but also as sound effects for videos or games, for example.
Just like in my own professional practice, I teach the different aspects of electronic music production:
- sound design ('sound design'), both analogue and digital
- composition techniques
- software for music production, so-called 'DAWs' such as Ableton Live
- production: recording and mixing of audio
- performance of electronic music
It is also possible to learn more about (Western and non-Western) music theory and the history of (electronic) music.
From my background as a sound designer for games & film, much of me can share knowledge and experience in this.
In principle, my lessons are always adapted to the individual needs, knowledge and skills of the student.
For the youngest, my approach is to introduce them to music and technology in a playful way. For this I use my own collection of musical instruments that I have collected over the years from all over the world, and which I link to technology.

PatrickAbleton Live - Getting your ideas down into a workable format to create a full working track! No prior knowledge needed!
I specialise in making music with the computer when there isn't a whole bunch of theory knowledge there. I can teach you to quickly and efficiently make that tune in your head into a reality, then turn that into a full track.
If you have tried a few tutorials or courses and they didn't fit with you because of all the engineering jargon and theory based approach, this course is for you! I learnt to make music because I was hearing all these songs in my head but wasn't good enough at any instrument to materialise them. Ableton allowed me to hash through ideas, jam with them, then finally turn them into a full working track. I have also worked as a live and studio sound engineer so I do have the theoretical knowledge but can communicate in the language of learners from all different levels.
I think there are a lot of people that just need to express what they have in there head and Ableton is by far the best program for that. It is very intuitive, "jammable" and so much fun!
For me Ableton is my instrument but I also play the drums, piano and bass.

SionMusic Composition and Music Technology - from Songwriting and Dance Music through to Contemporary Classical.
As a composer and producer with wide ranging skills, I balance tailoring my lessons to each individual pupil, while also looking to broaden their musical abilities with relatable knowledge. For example, teaching classical composers recording and mixing techniques to help them create recordings of their works, or teaching dance music producers jazz harmony to create interesting chord sequences.
I am also able to provide support for GCSE/BTec/A Level courses.
