Zachary - Woodland Hills, CA$33
Trusted teacher: This course is for viola and violin students from the beginner through the high school level, and any age from 5-99! My goal is for my students to foster a healthy and long-term relationship with their instrument. The course focuses on practicing and truly understanding technique, with an emphasis on listening. Weekly assignments tend to include technical exercises, scales, and classical pieces of the student's choice. Basic improvisation is also an interest of mine and, I find, a valuable experience for my string students. I believe repertoire is largely a matter of student taste. Students of mine have learned pieces in the Suzuki books and other classical repertoire volumes, but have also learned pop and fiddle songs according to their interest. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from the University of Puget Sound, where I graduated in 2015 before moving to Vienna to study privately for three years. I am currently on hiatus from a Master of Viola Performance degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where I study with Ásdís Valdimarsdottir. I have been teaching violin intermittently since 2009. While my musical education is classical, my performance interests are much wider. I have performed jazz and pop improv, and am currently exploring how hip hop can be implemented on the viola and violin.

Wondering why take lessons with me? I've been playing guitar for 37 years now. I have played professionally over the last 33 years, including 25 with Cirque du Soleil. I am 100% bilingual. The guitar is my passion, my life. For me, teaching guitar is not work. It's a real pleasure! And finally (the most important point for me), over the years, I developed my own technique. My system has only ONE GOAL: PLAYING THE GUITAR! That means "we play a lot, and we learn the necessary theory. I teach 9 to 99 years old! I am a double graduate of Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA What is GuitarBloxx? It's a teaching method with ONE great goal: PLAYING THE GUITAR! What does that mean for you? This means that throughout the first few basic courses, the theory will be ONLY based on the game. "Hands on"! Do not just make notes! And yes, there are songs that are so easy to learn. From the first class, everything you learn will be based on a song that you learn at the same time! Fun songs to play (you can even pick from my list) AND learn at the same time. You will be able to show the quick results of your progress to your relatives and friends! I will also give you written notes (to do a little practice at home), and also "backing tracks" to immediately give you the feeling of playing in a group! All of this is included in my classes, and even more. Obviously, if you are intermediate or even advanced, the same principle applies, only the techniques taught and the songs that we learn differ. A little / a lot more difficulty, and with different goals. And what's even more cool is that as you move forward in the program, it's YOU who chooses the BLOXX that you want us to work together. In closing, you do not even have to own your own instrument. I have a ton of guitars of all styles that I rent to my students until they get theirs. And when they are ready to buy this first guitar, not only I offer to help them in their choice, but I also have a guitar store that offers the best prices. Classes are offered Monday to Sunday, at Samson Blvd in Laval, 2 minutes west of Highway 13. Here are the time slots available at this time. Note that the available time slots may change without notice. Thursday 19:30 - 22:30 Friday 9 pm - 10.30 pm Saturday 2.30 pm - 5.30 pm Sunday 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Trusted teacher: The CVT Complete Vocal Technique is a pioneering and innovative method of singing practice created in Denmark by Cathrine Sadolin twenty years ago, adopted by thousands of amateur and professional singers around the world. First, you have the possibility of increasing your comfort by applying the 3 basic principles for a healthy voice: Support, Twang and opening of the mouth. Then, it is a question of choosing the character of sound that you want to produce, by modifying the adjustment (the shape) which you give to your vocal tract (zone of the larynx, the mouth and the lips), one speaks then the mode in which you sing. -There is the Neutral mode which refers to soft sounds. -The Curbing mode whose sounds are a little louder and restrained. -Overdrive mode for loud and powerful sounds. -And finally the Edge mode for loud and sharp sounds. Anyone can use the 4 modes and switch between them. When you are in control and know the limitations, advantages and disadvantages of each of these modes, you will in fact be able to sing exactly what you want. You have access to several tools to acquire these new skills and this in-depth understanding of your voice. Before committing yourself, I would like you to think about your motivation, whether you are a beginner, an amateur or a professional, I work exclusively with people who are involved in their learning process.

Gabriela - Guadalajara$52
Trusted teacher: My classes are held online around the world. I can teach in English, Spanish, Russian, Italian, French, German or Portuguese. I am a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory in Russia where I lived, studied music and arts and worked as a ballet teacher, languages and music teacher. I have professional equipment such as cameras in different positions and degrees since it is essential that the student has different optics of both the piano and my body posture. We start with music theory and practice at the same time choosing pieces of preference for the student. The real objective of the class goes beyond the music per se ... but rather a spiritual-intellectual integration which results in genius through music! Music is the hook to touch the soul. Russian piano education focuses on fewer, more challenging pieces. The music will be learnt from memory and much of the learning is done through teacher demonstration. - Solfeggio First of all, what is solfeggio? Also known as 'solfège', solfeggio (sometimes called sight-singing) is the ability to read and sing music at sight. You may have heard this phrase before: 'Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do'. This is a method used to help musicians sight-sing. The Russian piano teaching method is often complemented by the use of solfeggio, and it is commonplace that when Russian teachers do use it, they use the fixed do, meaning C is always do, regardless of the key. With the British piano teaching method, solfeggio is less commonly used, and when it is, moveable do (the tonic is do) is used. As you can probably decipher, this makes the Russian method of using solfeggio much more challenging. - Attitude Without wanting to cast a generalisation across Russia, their learning method has been known for strictness, discipline and controversy. It leaves many wondering: Is the Russian way of learning the piano more demanding? Frequently, Russian piano teachers I work with joke about the harshness of teachers in their youth. The method is trying to achieve excellence in piano playing, but encouragement and discipline are used to varying degrees. I mix my adventuress, feisty, serious, exotic, disciplined and wild personality and the outcome are my classes!

Trusted teacher: For voice students, my teaching method will depend on which genre of music you are interested in pursuing. A few that I teach most frequently are classical, opera, and Broadway. On your first lesson, we will go over the basics of good breathing and posture, figure out your voice type, what genre of voice you want to pursue, and from there, I will choose a piece for you to begin working on, and starting with that piece, you will continue to learn how to improve your voice in amazing ways! I have learned that being immersed in the world of music is vital for being a good teacher. Musicians who only teach and do not “cross-train” by performing on their instruments regularly and continuing learning simply do not have as much to offer to their students. I pursue all of these avenues actively, not only for my own benefit, but also for that of my students. My primary goal as a teacher is to be a motivating and inspiring mentor and guide. As the famous Chinese proverb says, a teacher opens the door, but students must enter by themselves. My highest aspiration is to show my students doors that they never knew existed, and giving them the tools to go through those doors on their own.

As a trained guitarist, I'm happy to provide a comprehensive lesson on the subject of the student's choosing. Whether that be a core concept of guitar playing such as chord shapes and extensions, music theory as it applies to playing the guitar, melody and chord progression composition, or just learning a song. Even if a student doesn't necessarily have a set goal in mind when considering booking a lesson, I am 100% certain that I can impart some kind of musical knowledge about the guitar and how its played. My lessons include supplementary material as well. If you book a lesson intending on learning a song, then you will be receiving a chord sheet with the progression and chord charts. If you want to learn a concept like economy picking, I will at least one practice exercise I can provide you with to help reinforce that concept.
