Develop an understanding of new business ventures from initial concept through company formation and operation. Particular emphasis will be placed on personal character assessment, market research, resources and skills required to “validate” an initial concept into a successful new venture.  Understand the wide range of new venture financing options available to entrepreneurs, and fit for their plans: micro-financing, family, angel investment, corporate and private equity venture capital, and emerging new investment vehicles such as online “crowd financing,”  Create a concise, succinct business plan “executive summary,” following the Guy Kawasaki “10-20-30” rule of thumb, including pro forma financial projections.  Demonstrate an ability to confidently and effectively communicate the “executive summary” findings and conclusions, and to defend them to an audience of informed peers, as if they were potential investors or stakeholders in the new venture.
