I offer online math courses for high school and university students, as well as targeted training for adults. During the first session, I will learn where your difficulties lie (understanding, problem solving, visualization in geometry, planning, or just techniques), then we will solve together some of your recent exercises. This way you will have a good chance to see how a session goes and if you like my approach. In general, a large portion of the sessions is devoted to solving exercises with my help. If necessary, we will take the time to revise the theory, evidence, and cover fundamental concepts that might be lacking. Between lessons, students also receive additional exercises to solve on their own, which we then correct together. Before the exams, we can organize additional review sessions. Classes can be given in French or in English. For communication I tend to use Skype or Google Meet, no other tool is required from the student.
I give chess lessons in English or French, for all ages and levels. Methodology: One of the most difficult aspects of chess is learning to reason coherently about the game, long before you worry about finding the "best" move. That is to say, study the given position, objectively assess who owns the advantage according to a characterization of the position in terms of its underlying strategic aspects and its tactical potentials. This theme, personalized to your style of play, constitutes the main part of the course. The additional content of the courses and the types of exercises will also be adapted according to the level and the needs of the student. This allows us to focus on the phase of the game where you are having the most difficulty. It goes without saying that an integral part of the course will still be dedicated to solving tactics, visualization games, and discussions on strategy. In addition, and more concretely, during the lessons, we will also learn how to study and progress his game completely independently. Among other things, this requires establishing a basic notion of the following: - Algebraic notation of strokes, - How to use a game database, - How to use an opening library, - How to efficiently analyze your own games with and without a computer (for example Stockfish), - Literature recommendations based on your interests and needs. My own background: I have been giving private lessons for 3 years and I have 15 years of competitive experience, during which I won several tournaments at school and national level, with a performance of 2250 (ELO).
