I am a British native english speaker working in Brussels, looking to help anyone who wants to improve either their spoken or written english in a professional or social context. My goal is to be flexible and focus on exactly what you want to improve, having some experience in privately tutoring English to French and Dutch children before. I have a B2/C1 level certificate in French so if needed the class can be taught in French.

My name is Serdane and I offer English lessons to high school students and adults who find it difficult to develop a way of working that suits them. I specialise in tutoring English for European Union professional exams (e.g., AST - AD promotion exams and 'retour' interpretation exams), for other exams (SAT, GMAT, GRE, FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS. TOEFL), for thesis submission, and for other professional work, particularly English for auditors, legal, financial and ambassadorial advisors, business people, project managers, salespeople, physicians, scientists, and academic students. All courses are individually tailored to the student's needs and students are invited to supply their own materials from work. Courses usually focus on passing an exam or on achieving a sense being able to work comfortably in English with native or non-native English speakers.

In the case of tutoring, I base my lessons on the subject seen by the student by explaining to him in another way with many examples and by making him practice as much as possible. In case of learning the basics, I have set up my own totally interactive method so that the student can practice and during which I speak almost only in English to be close to immersion during the lessons. Depending on how my students feel they learn English most effectively, I adapt my lessons to use materials that give them the best results possible. For instance, some students find the continuity of a coursebook effective, while others prefer to be more flexible with articles and podcasts. I know from experience that every student is unique.

I provide online reading sessions to children who are learning to read in English and/or who would like to practise their reading skills with a native English speaker. I have extensive experience teaching English to young learners, in particular, in teaching children to read using the Jolly Phonics programme. Each reading session lasts approximately 30 to 40 minutes and includes written feedback of the session, and access to online materials e.g. pdf levelled books, worksheets or links to useful resources.
