Trusted teacher: Cartoon or Comic (or Comics, or Manga, or BD, or Fumetti,…) is the art of telling through successive images (“Juxtaposed pictorial and other images in deliberate sequence, intended to convey information and/or to produce an aesthetic response in the viewer” — Scott McCloud). Together with you I will look for your own stories. You *don't* need to be able to draw for this, although that's a plus. Yet the emphasis here is not on the technical "drawing" itself, but on how you tell your story, and what you want to achieve with it. Beginners start by creating simple yet flexible characters according to the philosophy of Cartoonist/Comic artist Ivan Brunetti. To loosen the creative muscles, we follow the philosophy of Lynda Barry. But that's just the starting point. For children it will be an introduction to the elements of comics, and how we can use them to make up a nice story. For teens and older we can also talk about tone, theme, tension and rhythm, we go into the use of composition, the meta box, lettering, color, format, etc… Advanced people, who already have more (comic) experience, go with me and each other in search of depth, try to bring challenges to a successful end, and raise their bar. These lessons are given individually as well as for groups, but group lessons have the advantage that you can learn from what others develop with a similar assignment. If the group is large enough, the price can of course also be reduced. Before the lesson is definitively booked, I will ask what your level and experience are via a short questionnaire. I am a professional cartoonist, with more than 15 years of experience in character creation, storytelling, etc… mainly in a professional context. In addition, I am a lifelong comic book fanatic, who is at home in all markets, and combines a Master in Applied Visual Arts (Graphic Design/Specialty Comic Strip) with an Educational Master in the Arts. I have experience in teaching primary school children, teenagers, and adults alike, and I am convinced that the medium of Strip deserves more respect.

Drawing lessons: comic, cartoon, manga, any style and level (Ixelles-Elsene)
Carlos is helping my daughter (12 years old) to learn how to draw Manga. He is really good and my daughter always comes back after the lesson happy and eager to show me what she learned. She really enjoys that Carlos is focusing the drawing lessons to what she likes to draw (which is Manga in her case) and not drawing in general. Carlos also manages to transfer drawing skills through Skype which is not an easy thing to do. I would highly recommend him George

French as a Foreign Language (FLE) course for adults (Business and everyday life) (Ixelles-Elsene)
Cécile is a responsive teacher who uses an interactive and structured approach. She listened to my needs and was attentive to my level, tailoring lessons to how and where i can best make progress. The strength I am most impressed by is her ability to identify where exactly I'm having issues, and to work around those needs and structure homework in a way that best exercises it.
Comic book author, I'm learning how to tell stories in drawings (Prouilly)
Marzena is a wonderful teacher who adapts to her student with care and kindness. My son had a great experience having her as a teacher and created some fantastic comics.
