Cancellation Policies

Apprentus allows teachers to choose among three standardized cancellation policies (Flexible, Moderate, and Strict) that we will enforce to protect both students and teachers alike. Each listing and reservation on our site will clearly state the cancellation policy. Students may cancel and review any penalties by viewing their reservation plans and then clicking 'Cancel' on the appropriate reservation.

Flexible: Full refund 1 day prior to the session, except transaction fees
  • The transaction fee is non-refundable.
  • If there is a complaint from either party, notice must be given to Apprentus within 24 hours of the session.
  • Apprentus will mediate when necessary, and has the final say in all disputes.
  • A reservation is officially canceled when the student clicks the cancellation button on the cancellation confirmation page, which they can find in Account > Bookings > Cancel Reservation.

Moderate: Full refund 6 days prior to the session, except transaction fees
  • The transaction fee is non-refundable.
  • If there is a complaint from either party, notice must be given to Apprentus within 24 hours of the session.
  • Apprentus will mediate when necessary, and has the final say in all disputes.

Strict: 50% refund 6 days prior to the session, except transaction fees
  • The transaction fee is non-refundable.
  • If there is a complaint from either party, notice must be given to Apprentus within 24 hours of the session.
  • Apprentus will mediate when necessary, and has the final say in all disputes.
  • A reservation is officially canceled when the student clicks the cancellation button on the cancellation confirmation page, which they can find in Account > Bookings > Cancel Reservation.

What happens if the teacher cancels?
We take teacher cancellations very seriously as they hurt the reliability of our website.
Occasionally, teachers may need to cancel a reservation. We've created a way for the teacher and the student to change a reservation (Account > Bookings > Change), which might allow to avoid the cancellation altogether.
If the cancellation is inevitable, teachers must officially cancel the reservation by going to their Account > Bookings > Cancel Reservation.
The student will receive a full refund of their payment including all fees.

When a session is cancelled, the following penalties apply:
  • The teacher will be charged the credit card transaction fee if applicable.
  • The teacher will be charged a fine worth 15% of the booking amount for every cancellation 6 hours prior to the session after one in a one year period.
  • An automatic review appears on the teacher profile indicating that a reservation was canceled after one in a one year period.
