Trusted teacher: My main teaching philosophy is to teach students to play the music they enjoy. It sounds like a no-brainer but I have had teachers in the past who only showed me songs that they enjoyed or used method books that teach you "Mary Had A Little Lamb" or "Hot Crossed Buns" (and if you like those songs then we can learn those). All that to say, whatever the student's goal on the instrument, I will take them step by step until they reach it. For a beginning musician, the fundamentals of the instrument are given the highest priority: how to tune your instrument, names of all the notes, essential chords, basic strumming, playing in time, and understanding basic rhythm. For someone who already plays but needs a little help getting out of the rut, we'll spend time fixing bad technical habits, hammering home the fundamentals, expanding their repertoire, and slowly moving outside of the comfort zone to new horizons. With advanced players, listening (ear training), transcribing, song analysis, exploring advanced theory concepts, and focusing on composition and improvisation are most important. With all levels of students, I make playlists that I update after each lesson so they can hear real examples of what we are covering, as well as provide detailed written notes in TAB and standard notation so they can refer to everything we covered and know what to practice. Among other things, we can focus on: -Basic technique on the instrument -Learning songs of your choice, with a method that will allow you to learn songs by yourself later on. -Learn about different styles: Pop, Rock, Funk, Soul, Metal, Jazz... -Develop your understanding of music through the instrument (scales, arpeggios...) -Creativity, and improvisation through the use of the material we have studied together -Ear training and music theory -Rhythm, all the way from basic to very advanced -Basic compositional techniques, or fun ways to start composing I have been teaching privately for the past 6 years, with very happy students. Trusted teacher: Hi bass guitar player! If you like the low notes, the rhythm, the groove the most: high five! Bass guitar still is my favourite instrument, although I also like singing and playing drums, and can get some sounds out of a keyboard or guitar. What moves me the most about playing music is being on stage with fellow musicians and experience how the music touches, inspires, arouses or moves our audience. It's an experience I wish other for other musicians, my students, you. An experience I hope to contribute to with my lessons. In the lessons your taste, preferences and level are starting point and goal. Depending on your wishes and (learning) questions I will compile the lessons with excercises for developing your technique, level, and skills like playing (together with a drummer and in a band). Developing a good technique, finding the right bass lines with your favourite tracks or coming up with your own bass lines are important topics in the lessons. In 2006 I graduated at the Utrecht Conservatoir, bass guitar Jazz & Pop, where I studied with Theo de Jong and also with Joel Groenewold and Harry Emmery. Previously I had studied with Sven Schuster, and in Brazil I studied with Thiago Espirito Santo. I have been teaching for twenty years, and performed with all kinds of bands in all kinds of styles on stages and in studios in The Netherlands, Belgium, Israel and Brazil.

Trusted teacher: Music has always brought me amazing opportunities to connect to inspiring people throughout my life. I personally love many different types of music from around the world but my favourite styles to play are Jazz/Soul and Latin music. I have been singing since I can remember and understood the importance of playing instruments from a very young age. I feel fortunate to have been able to work on my musical skills through leading and playing in many different bands, performing in bars and different events and recording with some pretty cool people. Personally, I think it helps to learn and practice songs that you like because it motivates and speeds up the learning process. I am happy to suggest some songs that would suit your style as we go. I'm very flexible when it comes to the lesson. I like to personalize them to your goals and needs, from which I create specific exercises for listening, rhythm, technique and music theory (which can seem unapproachable at first) I have seen my students grow through ups and downs through putting in time. Key is showing up to the lessons, from there you are already growing. I strongly believe music is a universal language that can be learned and enjoyed by everyone, as long as they put their mind to it. I'd be more than happy to guide you through some of your musical journey and have you be part of mine too.
