French tutoring with children and adults in London

Contrary to popular belief, learning Latin is not like learning the phone book by heart. I offer you Latin lessons that are unlike any other. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches: If you take the train back and forth every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options: 1) Learn the schedules by heart. 2) Note that the train arrives every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m. In school pedagogy, in study notebooks and in ordinary courses, it is the first approach which is adopted - in the courses that I offer you, it is the second because it is more economical and faster. My offer is aimed at both students and adults who want to learn the Latin language or deepen their knowledge without time-consuming detours through the insanities of school methods which do not produce results. Learning is easy but unlearning what has become a bad habit is extremely difficult. All the more important it is to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning in a positive state of mind. I offer individual or group Latin lessons (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice. As a recent graduate from a Master degree in teaching English, with 5 years of experience tutoring French children and students privately. During my two years of master, I taught English to secondary school students. The theory and the practise, allowed me to develop my teaching skills and through tutoring I have learned to tailor my teaching methods to the student’s needs. Moreover, throughout my years of tutoring, I could gave back the confidence that students were lacking in their education, which led to one of my students to obtain her “brevet” equivalent of the English GSCE with a high grade. I teach Italian and French to Primary and Secondary school aged students. I also teach foreign languages to adults and Preschool children. The beginners will start with easy exercises and short dialogues to learn the language. Intermediate and Advanced students will do grammar exercises to improve their language. I would like to speak Italian and French to the students right away. We will write dialogues and talk about interesting topics all together. I usually use the Internet as well. My goal is to keep students challenged yet interested in my lesson.

I was born and raised in France and moved to England at the age of 16, which means I completed my Brevet des Colleges in France including 1 year of Lycée. I have previous experience teaching students as I volunteered in a primary school back in 2013. I am able to help students improve their French, enabling them to become more confident in their speech as well assist them in any homework or proofreading of work. I am very flexible in terms of how the lesson will go, as I believe there is no one specific way of learning as everyone has different abilities and learning capacities.

Hi there ! My name is Léonille, I am 20 years old, I am French and I am a third year student at King's College in economics and international development. I am looking for families who need homework help for children up to 18 years old, or who need occasional/regular babysitting. Obviously, I can help in French, but also in history, English, philosophy, HGGSP/SES specialties or equivalents etc... I did all my schooling at the Ecole Jeanine Manuel Paris, a completely international and bilingual school ( there is also a campus here in London), until I moved to London after school for my Bachelor. I obtained grades of 17 and 18 in the French Baccalaureate and I have always been quite good with words. I have quite a bit of experience with young children but also with adolescents, having myself a younger brother aged 6 and a younger sister aged 16. In addition, I babysat for many families in Paris (during the week after school or on weekends) and I started academic support, homework help and French lessons from my arrival in London two years ago.
