Hello. My name is Hernan, I am from Argentina. I have a native level of Spanish and Chinese. I also speak English with a level equivalent to C1. I have 8 years of experience, mostly at the initial level (from 0), although I also had students with slightly more advanced levels, preparation for HSK 4 onwards. I usually work with students 1vs1 (in private tutoring) but I have also coordinated classes with groups of up to 6. Mandarin and English are the two languages that I can teach. Since Feb. 2012, I started to work in Lolokids in Shanghai. It is a part of Longre Education Group. My students were 3-12 years old. I taught them pronunciation and "New Concept English". After a year, I also found a part-time job in Learn First. This time I even had some adult students. They were 30-45 years old. So the range of the students' age was getting larger, it was from 3-45 years old. Mostly, the books that I taught were "Side by Side", but meanwhile I also taught grammar, English conversation and some other materials that students offered to me. I love teaching Chinese students English, and also like teaching foreigners Mandarin. Since 2009, I taught my American colleague Mandarin, and that experience reminded me of being a Mandarin tutor would be a fantastic thing. In Feb. 2011, I got a certificate of International Mandarin Chinese Promotion Institute teacher qualification for the level of Assistant Professor. In May 2013, I got my Certificate of results of test of Putonghua (Mandarin) proficiency with good grade. During these years, I had taught an American business man for couple years. Since May 2014, I began to teach foreigners Mandarin in Mandarin Morning, a training center. My students come from France, Germany, America, Japan,and Spain. The books that I normally teach were "My Chinese Classroom" and "Excel in Chinese-Better Chinese Better Business". Some of the students couldn't even speak a Chinese word. So I can teach students from the beginning level. Also, some of my students can even write Chinese characters, like my Japanese student. His Chinese was at intermediate level to advanced level. I have also been a translator and interpreter for many years. I got my Certificate of Intermediate Interpreter in June 2010. So I believe that studying languages with me will be an interesting thing. Also the most important thing is that I am very patient. Let's start the journey of learning Mandarin or English. Right now I have not started my study in Sydney yet, so I can teach for the whole week. However, since 25 Feb. I can just teach on the weekends.

I have been taken Chinese classes from Helen since June 2021. From my first contact with Helen I felt very at ease which also contributes to my lessons with her. I find it important that my courses (which I do besides my full time job) fit in my work/private schedule, and Helen has shown immense flexibility on her side, which helped me a lot. After 3 months, we have gone through almost the entire first part of the Course. Helen has adjusted her lessons to my personal needs after the first couple lessons which helps me to stay focussed every single lesson. What I also find very important personally, is that I also have fun during my lectures. I can say with much excitement that not one of my classes has been boring, repetitive or predictable. This keeps me as the student motivated to log on every week and do my homework. After 1.5 month taking Chinese courses from Helen, I travelled to China and it proved her lessons were very effective. I was able to communicate on a general level and have basic understanding from others to get myself travelling through the Xiamen, China. Overall 5-star rate for Helen, based on my fun experience during the online courses, her flexibility and the amazing results after 3 months already.

I was thinking, that learning Chinese is extremely difficult, however, thanks to Shan,  this language becomes more and more clear for me. Every lesson is very productive and I feel, that I progress fast! Today, there are numerous teachers, who can teach you Chinese. However, only a few of them can make the educational process so interesting and enjoyable. Luckily for me, Shan is one of them and I am very happy, that I found her. Shan is very precise and corrects every my mistake. She can easily explain how to properly pronounce words with different tones, how to write syllables, the grammar and many more. I like, that with her, I am not just memorising Chinese language, but I do really understand it. Overall, without a doubt, I can say, that Shan is a great teacher! 心💕

Who truly knows how to tailor a programme to each individual student. In 3 weeks, I've grown from knowing close to no grammar to being able to form proper sentences for everyday use. One aspect I value a lot about her way of teaching is that we apply the grammar not only to every-day situations but also to topics that tailor to my personal life circumstances. I have been convinced that, with the help of Marina, I will be able to grow my Mandarin skills exponentially over the next few months.
