Hungarian classes from native linguist, online or in-person (+ bring your friend for a group discount!)

No one: …
Hungarians: “Megszentségteleníthetetlenségeskedéseitekért!“

The fact that you have found my profile means that you are intrigued by Hungarian to some extent. Me as a polyglot linguist who is also a native speaker of this exciting and colourful language do share your appreciation.

- Are you planning a vacation (or even moving) to Hungary and want to make the most of your experience with being able to communicate with the locals? (Believe me, they will really appreciate it!)

- Are you interested because you want to speak to your significant other in their native language, or perhaps to rediscover your own roots?

- Do you want to pick up a new challenge and learn a language that is known for its complexity?

Whatever your goal, we can reach it together! Despite its notorious reputation among linguists and non-linguists alike, I can help you tame the beast and show you that the language of the Magyars in fact is way more systematic than many (including Hungarians) would like to admit ;)

I have tutored over a dozen students in Hungarian from various nationality backgrounds across 3 continents, and I have a proven set of methods/materials for each of the 6 CEFR levels. The class contents are tailored to your own goals, pace and interests. As a rule of thumb, I like to start out with easy-paced classes for which no previous linguistic knowledge is necessary, so you can feel at ease while warming up to Hungarian. But since I am familiar with various layers of the language, we can also take a step forward and dive into more spicy topics such as etymology, descriptive grammar, poetry (you name it) if you are interested. In any case, you can expect a structured approach with clear and doable aims, lots of first-hand cultural notes and personalised home assignments that help your progress.

If you want to start to learn Hungarian, don’t hesitate to send me a mail!

About Me

I am a friendly, enthusiastic and encouraging teacher with 10 years of professional teaching experience.

Among the six languages I speak, Japanese is definitely my speciality since it has a very special place in my life. Starting from Bachelors up to completing the coursework of a Ph.D. in Japanese Studies, I have devoted more than ten years to learn more about the language and culture of this incredible people.

During this time, not only did I get a chance to work and study in Japan for two years, but also to open my eyes to other exciting cultures as well. This is how I found myself on a year-long working holiday in Korea where I was volunteering on farms and teaching English, and spending a month in a Taiwanese Buddhist monastery. These episodes have given me a lot of experiences and insights that I love to share and discuss with others.

Being a polyglot and great linguistic nerd myself, I design my classes in such a fashion that I would also enjoy taking part in them. I use lots of real-life materials (books, comics, movies, music, podcasts, you name it) that I maximally tailor to my student's needs and first-hand stories that put these into perspective. Last but not least, I like to keep the classes informal and informative at the same time.

Great teacher, he's patient and supportive. Lessons are fun, interesting and he has a great knowledge about Japan, which he likes to share.
Akos makes the classes a fun learning experience. It's very casual and easy paced. He also shares additional knowledge about the geography, culture and history.
° sympathetic, joy to listen to ° good and interesting explanations ° at ease, no pressure, very patient person ° personal follow-up, own pace and interests ° I took several classes, cannot else but highly recommend this teacher !!!
Akos is an amazing tutor very understanding, friendly and engaging! He's also really great at teaching and in the few months I followed his lessons I learnt a lot more Japanese than I thought possible in such a short time, definitely 5 stars and I wholeheartedly recommend his lessons!
We zijn bezig geweest met werkwoorden. Akos heeft alles heel duidelijk uitgelegd met voorbeelden. Van tevoren had ik materiaal gekregen in het Nederlands. Dat heeft mij erg geholpen.
여러분, 안녕하세요? 🇰🇷 Do you want to start learning Korean and do you want to do it in an organised way? 🇰🇷 Did you already get started on learning but you got stuck on a particular grammar? 🇰🇷 Are you aiming for a TOPIK 1-2 language exam and do you want to get prepared in as short and effective a time as possible? As a language tutor with over 10 years of didactic experience and a TOPIK level 5 language exam, I can help you overcome difficulties and reach your goals. My love with Korean language and culture started more than 10 years ago thanks to my amazing Korean friends that I made during my first exchange year in Japan. Fast forward to 2016, I spent one semester in Korea as part of my individual research trip abroad to collect materials for my PhD which later turned into another semester of working holiday as an English tutor. This year spent in Korea was my real motivation to start learning the language properly so that I could connect more to the locals. For me this was a very enjoyable, but at the same time challenging process. As a result, I can completely relate to your struggles. That is why I like to make sure that I teach my students in the way that I wish I had learned when I was a beginner. I can assist you with grammar, pronunciation, and script (but also hanja and cultural notes) up to a TOPIK level 1-2. If you have a favourite vlogger, comedian or song that you want to translate in class, that is also no problem: my classes are very open to your input to turn your progress into a really personal experience.
Whatever your Japanese level, whatever your goals with learning, I am more than sure we can achieve them together. For example: - Are you planning to take a JLPT exam anywhere from N5 to N1? - Need a quick brush-up for your job or scholarship interview? - Upcoming trip to Japan and you wish you could break the ice with locals in their language? - Do you want to understand what they are talking about in your favourite TV show without subtitles? - Or… you simply fell in love with this incredible language and want to start learning it from scratch in a structured way? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you can already rest assured that you have found the right tutor. On top of these, the range of possible directions our classes can take is even broader: I can introduce you to Japanese interpretation prepping, help you to improve your understanding of written Japanese in a more structured way, or if you’re a kanji nerd like I am, talk about their history for hours. I have been a Japanologist *slash* lover-of-all-things-Japanese for more than 14 years and as such I am familiar with a very broad range of linguistic and cultural layers of the country (oh, and if there is one that I am not, then I will most definitely be more than happy to look into it). So do not hesitate to leave a message if you want to learn with me.

I believe that hungarian is for everyone. The student and the teacher have to find the most effective way of learning the language. I have been teaching exchange student since 2015, and I always adjust my study plan to my students. My students achieved great results in a short period of time.

Hungarian classes online and in Vienna: Learn Hungarian from a professional teacher!
I'm a highly qualified and experienced translator and a language teacher for German and Hungarian. Being a translator and a polyglott enables me to see languages and their grammar systems from a different angle than 'regular' Hungarian native speakers or school teachers. Based on my training and my regional expertise I also provide a variety of language support services for Hungarian. I have taught both in the private sector and in numerous language schools, adults and children of different ages. I can offer Hungarian to university level, for this is my mother-tounge, and German to B2 level since I live and work in Vienna for more than 17 years now. I came here to study and made my Bachelor degree in Transcultural Communication and a Master degree in Translation and Terminology Sciences at the University of Vienna, then settled down with a good man and built a family. I also have a teaching qualification for 'German as a Foreign Language' from the University of Kassel in Germany, and a didactic training on the renowned BERLITZ-method for 'Native Speaker Language Teachers'. Usually I work from home, where I have a vast library of teaching resources such as worksheets, textbooks, picture dictionaries, flash-cards, games and lots of books for Beginners with Hungarian-German-English parallel texts, short stories for Easy Readers etc. I use varying tutoring approaches, because no two learners are alike, whereby enjoyment is an important factor in my lessons. I very much like to use the latest technology and teaching techniques, but also have an extensive compilation of Hungarian language games, cards, songs, short stories, videos. I'm fond of and really appreciate internet sources to teach Hungarian, for I do believe that learning Hungarian can be fun. I aim to foster a friendly but professional relationship with each of my students, to build their confidence and self belief when they learn a new language. Hungarian can be an extremely challenging language and as an experienced Hungarian tutor I really can help you learning it. A private tutor is there to provide the support you need to enhance your language skills, especially your communication skills, and give you confidence in speaking the language. One-to-one language lessons can make grammar become far more accessible, together we'll sharpen your passive skills in reading and listening, and practice your active skills in speaking and writing. * Why choose me? * Native Hungarian speaker 15 years of teaching experience A multitude of Teaching/Learning Materials Explanation in English, German or Hungarian University trained translator and language teacher Flexible schedule, available also on Saturday and Sunday Very patient and always supportive, with a good portion of humour 1-to-1 classes in Vienna 15th, outdoors in the city center and online

English and Hungarian Classes From a Language Teacher
I'm a 26-year-old language teacher who has a Master's degree in teaching English as a foreign language. I have experience in teaching young learners and teenagers, as well as adults. I have taught both in a high school and a language school. I offer all kinds of classes in English: for complete beginners, for students who would like to prepare for an exam (e.g. IELTS), for students who just want to practise one of their skills, for workers who need English for their jobs, and for anybody who is just interested in the language. I use fun, interactive, and tailor-made activities and materials in my lessons since I believe that the most effective learning happens when the learner loves what they learn about and it does not feel like a chore. Since my native language is Hungarian, and as a language teacher I know what methods and strategies to use to acquire a foreign language, I also offer Hungarian classes.

English, Spanish and Hungarian lessons online for adults and children
If you need a patient, encouraging help learning in efficient and fun way, you're in the right place. I spent 8 years abroad (US, Spain, France) so I understand the challenges you face and I can help you to overcome your fears. I have many years of experience working as a particular ENGLISH, SPANISH AND HUNGARIAN teacher / tutor from BASIC to ADVANCED LEVEL. My passion for teaching comes from my own love of learning languages. I love travelling, I spent 8 years abroad (US, Spain, France). I currently speak four languages. I teach online (Zoom, Skype) adults and children (from 9 years old). My classes include different areas such as speaking, grammar, reading and listening comprehension, writing, and vocabulary. I use a variety of resources to make lessons engaging. I often include: songs, stories, articles, videos, games and conversation activities. All of my lessons are customized for each student, for each lesson. I know the difficulties in learning a language, grammatical issues, and the fear of communication. I understand the challenges my students face and I can help them to overcome their fears. I believe that success doesn’t depend on having a good sense of languages. With diligence and perseverance, everyone can be a damn good language learner. My students enjoy the positive atmosphere of my classes. Seeing my students smile while learning is my greatest source of joy when teaching. Come and give it a try!

Balint
Hungarian language classes for non-native speakers
I am a qualified mathematics teacher with a keen interest in teaching my mother tongue to anyone who is interested. I usually focus on verbal communication; conceptual understanding and I focus less on grammar and vocabulary (those can be learnt from a book). I have had students who wished to learn Hungarian, as a hobby, when I was living abroad in London (UK) and they greatly enjoyed our lessons. I have learnt English, from scratch, in London, as a teenager and developed my own methods to do so. I have received training in teaching, and I have been teaching for several years, but I am not a qualified Hungarian-language teacher. I understand the great difficulty that learning a language can possess and I wish to conduct my lessons in a way that eases that. I usually prefer a walking class (at a local cafe or at a local museum etc).

Linda
Hungarian lessons online from native speaker and qualified teaher!
I am a Hungarian native speaker and have been teaching Hungarian for almost 15 years. I am a qualified language tutor. I have a BA in languages. Recently I have been teaching online via Skype. It is really convenient for students because they can save a lot of time as they do not have to travel at all.

Roland
Hungarian as a Second Language with a professional certified teacher
In the past 13 years - since graduation - I have been working with a wide range of people form all over the world. I have been teaching not only the university students, help desk agents, but also middle and senior level managers join to our one-to-one and group sessions. Besides the general language courses the most popular sessions are specialized on HR and software development terminology. As one of the most employed Hungarian as a Foreign Language Teacher I got the opportunity to participate in 3 projects funded by the European Union and the Hungarian Ministry of Interior, in these 3 projects I gave over 2500 lessons for more than 300 language learners. When COVID-19 came, I started teaching only over Skype, and I just love it. I use Google doc. Google doc is like an interactive platform, what we can edit together at the same time, in the beginning of the class it is like a pure text book, in the end it is like your notebook with vocabulary and the solved tasks etc. I use Skype to speak on. Shall we schedule a demo class for this week?
