Singing - piano - music theory lessons, given in Ede (in English or Dutch)

Hallo! My name's Emi - I'm a British musician living in the Netherlands. I have been incredibly lucky to have had some incredible musical experiences... Some highlights including performing for the BBC/Ronnie Scott's TV Nights/O2 VIP Lounge/support for acts such as JP Cooper, and founding the Limelight Sessions (international monthly music nights, with acts such as Nick Wilson/Joe Buck/Hannah Grace, and many more).... But my biggest passion is teaching. I have 7 years of teaching experience (singing/piano/theory/English language), and a 100% pass rate in students' exams - from classical to pop music. I teach all ages/levels, and will tailor lessons to your own goals and musical visions.
If you'd like to know more, or want to set up a taster lesson, then I'd love to hear from you!

    Hopelijk tot snel,
    Emi :)

    About Me

I suppose you could say that music is in my blood. Growing up in a family of musicians, some of my earliest memories are of toddling around my mother’s own music school, back in England - I was like a kid in a candy shop, eagerly involved with anything and everything that I could be! My early background was largely classical - I was really lucky to have some amazing training from a young age in cathedral youth choirs, orchestras, classical voice training, and had achieved grade 8 ABRSM diploma in both piano and singing by age 14. Around that time, I discovered a love for songwriting, and in the years that followed I was lucky to have music take me through many adventures UK wide. Some particular highlights include performing at the O2 VIP Lounge (Bastille pre-show), BBC Introducing, Sofar Sounds, Ronnie Scott’s TV Nights, selling out my own headline shows, and supports for wonderful artists such as JP Cooper, as well as radio play (including in-session with Demot O’Leary on BBC Radio2), and publishing music through major label Sony.

As well as making music, I have big passions in other places - teaching being one of them. I have 7 years experience in teaching (all ages/standards), and a 100% pass rate through classical/music theatre/pop/theory grades. I’m also a huge language lover, and am a licenced English teacher (and native speaker) - I love being able to use this to help students with their English pronunciation.

If I've learned anything over the past 7 years, it's that no 2 students are the same, nor do they want the same things from the lessons. That's why I tailor my lessons to each individual student, so that we can, together, realise *your* goals and targets as a musician. Maybe it's an old hobby that you miss, maybe you're looking to go into the profession, or have a conservatoire audition coming up... Maybe you want to try music out for the first time! I'm here to guide you through it all. I can't wait to get started! :)

Berklee College of Music Graduate offers private lessons of Guitar, Harmony & Improvisation in Utrecht
The way I teach actually depends entirely on the student. The way I explain the concepts, plan and structure the lessons and approach each subject all depends on whether the student is a beginner, intermediate or advanced, and whether he or she has some experience on the subject. Each student has different needs and different abilities. It's just a matter of getting to know the student, in order to identify both the weaknesses and strengths on which to work.

Singing/Voice Lessons & Beginner Music Theory Lessons
I teach private singing lessons to children, teenagers, and adults in English (for now) and beginner music theory for all ages. Due to the current situation with COVID-19, I am teaching online only. There is no extra cost to the student and you don't have to leave the comfort of your home to have a fun time! I have 20 years experience as a performer and 10 years of teaching experience and have a passion for sharing music with others through music education. I believe that singing is a joyful expression of each unique voice and person. My teaching philosophy is to nurture students to have a fun and positive relationship with music no matter the level or age. My focus on a classical vocal technique gives the student a clear understanding of vocal technique, including: breathing techniques, pitch control, musicality and the knowledge to explore any genre of song. Basic music theory, rhythm, diction, sight-reading and ear training are also taught to the student to support a well rounded musical experience. I also teaches students how to practice, giving them the tools to feel confident in their own learning process. Absolute beginners are welcome! For online course, piano tracks are provided for you to sing along with during the lesson and we have a lot of fun together.

I have studied Classical Singing in the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata (Greece) and I have followed a two-year Early Music Programme in Athens Conservatoire. Piano (Classical, Jazz, Pop etc.) & music theory lessons for all ages/levels
Learning the Piano can be fun, especially when it is designed to meet your individual needs! Lessons are adapted to each student's preferences, based on their orientation and level, from beginners to advanced students. As a graduate classical pianist and also experienced Jazz musician (currently studying Jazz/Pop Piano in HKU), I can help you work your way around a variety of genres and repertoire in order to achieve your personal goals and express yourself through the art of playing the piano. I can also help singers that want to accompany themselves the most convenient way and also people that would like to use the piano as a tool to write their own music. I use both my own material of sheets and notes that I create specifically for each student, but also several books and a variety of methods. Some basic music theory is usually integrated to the piano lessons I give, in order to have a more complete understanding of the practical concepts but it could also be taught separately.
