Native English piano lessons from an experienced tutor

ENGLISH-SPEAKING PIANO TUTOR

I teach adults of all levels!

I often mentor people who are just starting out, helping them develop their interest in the instrument and play the music they love.

A lot of students come in with anxiety about how good or fast they're going to be able to learn. I work to build a respectful, supportive environment where you feel comfortable developing and learning at your own pace.

For intermediate and advanced students, I teach with a particular focus on fundamental technique through études, and developing musicality.

Oftentimes, as hobbyists, we have holes from our early studies that prevent us from developing later in life. My aim is to help correct that. You should leave with renewed confidence to tackle pieces that have intimidated or eluded you in the past.

I hope to teach you soon!

I’m so lucky that I was able to have lessons with Jack during my time in Berlin! He creates such a supportive environment for learning — laid back and calm, yet totally professional. After years of me struggling independently with a few pieces, he was able to show me new ways of approaching the music that transformed even the hardest parts into something accessible. He has a lovely and genuine way of offering encouragement / recognizing progress, while still keeping track of the underlying objective; a more far-reaching arc of improvement. I like how he remembers this larger perspective from week to week (especially when I forget), and finds ways to expertly weave the end goal into incremental, manageable steps. I have learned so much from the tools and techniques he’s shared with me, and am grateful to have enjoyed his teaching.
Lovely person, very knowledgeable, a very attentive teacher.
I started with Jack as a complete beginner. Through his constant encouragement and patients I'm delighted with my progress so far. The way he tailors his lesson to your goals and interests keeps the lesson fun and keeps you interested and engaged. I would 100% recommend Jack to anyone looking to learn how to play the piano and wants to enjoy the process of doing so.
I picked up learning piano in my late 30s, and Jack came to the rescue! I had no idea that I would learn to coordinate both my hands this fast! He's been really helping me shape my music and my playing skills with technique work and working on pieces that I really enjoy. The thing I like about Jack is he doesn't make you feel bad about your mistakes; he's really there to help you. He supports you and we laugh together when I make a bad move and he really helps me figure out what the pieces mean to him and what they could mean to me in a way that focuses on the music.
I had beginner level lessons with Jack and learned a lot. He is very professional, patient, always on time and has very good personality. I enjoyed having lessons with Jack a lot and can wholeheartedly recommend to both novice and advanced students!

Professional piano and flute lessons, classical music, jazz, pop, including music theory at the intersection of Torstrasse/Gartenstrasse
[GERMAN] I firmly believe that good teaching begins with caring as much as possible about the needs and views of students, being sympathetic and being able to see the world through their lenses. The student can be as inspiring to the teacher as the teacher is to the student. The lessons can be designed individually according to your needs. We can discuss what interests you, what you want to learn, from classical or jazz to popular genres. If you're ready to find out what kind of journey and progress we can make, write to me! [ENGLISH] I truly believe that good teaching starts with the maximum possible amount of caring about the student's needs, point of view, practicing sympathy and being able to see the world through their glasses at least as much as it is possible. The student can be just as inspiring for the teacher as the teacher can be for the student. When they happen to fit each other, their work bears fruit in no time! The lessons can be personalized based on your needs. We can discuss what you are interested in, what you would like to learn about from classical or jazz to popular genres. If you are ready to figure out what kind of journey and progress we can make, write to me! About me/About me: [GERMAN] I am a 26-year-old musician, did my master's degree in flute in Hungary, study composition at the Berlin University of the Arts, have been giving piano, flute and music theory lessons and tutoring in mathematics for 6 years. I am a person whose whole life has always revolved around music since I was born. I always look forward to sharing other people's knowledge, having good discussions with open-minded people and discovering new perspectives and new aspects of our world. I grew up in a family of musicians, my parents are professional musicians in a symphony orchestra. I have been learning piano and flute since I was five years old. As a child, I wanted to learn a little about as many instruments as possible, such as tuba, bassoon, violin, acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar and double bass, accordion, etc. In the end, flute, piano and composition became my profile. I have organized and performed many different concerts based on classical, contemporary, experimental, theatrical, electronic, jazz and pop music, free jazz, free improvisation, graphic notation, sound painting, performance arts, folk music of various peoples and so on. I am excited to learn something new about each type of music and find connections between pieces of music that come from quite different origins. Piano lessons - music theory and harmony - for any level
I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Juan José
The trumpet, learn to play it by making music from the first class.
The trumpet: its correct technical execution and the interpretation of popular and academic universal repertoires, is available to everyone regardless of their age. We will build a logical sequence of studies that will help develop the technical aspects. And we will address repertoires according to the age and taste of the student. we will draw a path with short, medium and long term goals. we will build a technical routine and healthy habits to progress correctly. In addition, we will select musical pieces by mutual agreement to mature the technical development hand in hand with musical growth. I am a professional trumpeter, I have participated in symphony orchestras, wind bands, big band, and small chamber and jazz ensembles. I have extensive experience teaching children, youth and adults. For me it is very important to make music from the first lesson, because there must be a balance between technical practice and its application in small melodies or musical pieces. No matter the musical genre, we will always find a repertoire according to the level and interest of each student. If you already know how to play and you need to perfect a piece or prepare a recital or audition, you can count on my experience and accompaniment as well.

Cheslava
Piano and Singing tutor with 5 years experience and professional education
From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.

GUITAR LESSON for ALL LEVELS ✨ taught by a seasoned CONSERVATOIRE PROFESSOR! 🎶
The lessons can be conducted in English 🇬🇧, Spanish 🇪🇸 , or Italian 🇮🇹 , ensuring accessibility for all students. Age and musical preferences are not limitations; with qualitative daily practice, rather than sheer quantity, progress can be swiftly observed. 💪🏼 🎶 My approach to classical guitar lessons is centered on tailoring them to each student's individual needs and potential. I prioritize fostering enthusiasm and motivation as primary tools for conveying technical and theoretical concepts, alongside a deep love for music. Lessons are open to students of all ages and skill levels. 🚀 The focus of the course revolves around the joy of playing music. Your favorite genres and pieces will take center stage, with a thorough exploration of their codes and secrets. Together, we'll delve into technical exercises and learn to play pièces of your choice or mine, enriching your repertoire and enhancing your playing style. 🤩 For example, we can reimagine pieces by applying advanced techniques such as the CAGED system, incorporating new chords, positions, and techniques like arpeggios and fingerstyle playing. This expands the instrument's capabilities and your playing skills, ensuring continuous progress and improvement. 👨🏻‍🏫 Upon request, the program also includes theoretical studies, which are presented in an accessible manner suitable for both beginners and experienced musicians. Exercises, pieces, and theoretical explanations are structured in a progressive order of difficulty.🔥 The theoretical program covers a range of topics, including guitar tuning, chord theory, scales and modes, finger picking techniques, strumming patterns, metronome practice, learning favorite songs, improvisation, harmony, melody, and rhythm theory.⚡️ Together, we'll embark on a musical journey tailored to your goals and aspirations, ensuring a fulfilling and enriching experience with the classical guitar.🔝☄️
