Physics & Maths Lessons! - Experience with Belgian and EU Baccalaureate, IB, University Applications & Learning Disabilities

Hi, my name is Jeremy and I have a Masters in Physics with honours from the University of Leicester (featured as a top 5 Physics university in the UK by The Guardian) and a - french - European School diploma in which I achieved 90% in Physics and 85% in Maths.

Helping others understand difficult topics and skills is something that I am very passionate about as an empathetic person. I have experience teaching Physics and Maths to kids from unprivileged backgrounds at the homework school in Saint-Gilles (CASG du Service Social Juif asbl) as well as through 3 years of private teaching.

In my classes, I aim to:

- help students achieve better grades in exams/tests in all branches of Physics & Maths
- clearly explain and break down topics
- give context and or example applications of topics (to improve understanding and memorisation)
- help with ADHD & other learning disabilities
- give practical advice for university applications (eg. UCAS in the UK) and discuss the exciting Physics research/work and projects you can work on later in life

Physics has a plethora of useful and fascinating applications, from the detection of Gravitational Waves and Gamma-Ray Bursts to the development of novel Medical Imaging techniques and Nano-technology (eg: smartphones). It is a subject that I am very passionate about and I hope to make use of my years of experience and extensive knowledge to help you understand and love the subject! My lessons will always be tailored to the individual needs of the student, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions!

About Me

As a curious and creative individual there are 2 subjects I am truly passionate about. The first is music, which I have been nurturing since I was 8 years old. The second is Physics which I studied at university.

In music, I took drum lessons for 4 years followed by piano lessons for 3 years and music theory lessons for 2 years before I switched to bass guitar for 9 years (ongoing). In bass, I took additional private lessons, I played and toured with jazz ensembles, performed live music and composed originals with numerous bands in Belgium and the UK, went to music summer camps, payed for specific online bass courses and recorded a lot of originals in studios. I am currently learning to sing and playing bass professionally with Kids of The Elephants in Brussels.

In Physics, I achieved 90% at the European School of Brussels II - as well as 85% in further Maths - and completed a Masters in Physics with First Class Honours at the University of Leicester in 2021. I have studied optional modules such as Astrophysics, Space Science, Programming and Medical Physics as well as standard modules such as Electricity & Magnetism, Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics and Special Relativity. For my Masters, I wrote a fun and fascinating literature review on Gamma-Ray Bursts and Gravitational Waves and I instigated my own Masters project in Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) techniques and Aorta Phantoms due to my interest in medicine.

I am also a very sociable and empathetic person. During my studies, most of my free time consisted of playing music with numerous bands in Leicester and in Brussels. I was also the equipment & events officer for a large Band & Gigs society featuring 70 active members and regularly collaborated with other music societies (choir, big band, orchestra..). I have also worked as a student ambassador for my university (talking to parents and their children about my Physics department) and occasionally like to go rollerblading.

I have taken a dozen classes with Jeremy, he's an excellent bass teacher. He's friendly, patient, and very good at breaking down complex concepts into easy-to-understand lessons. His mix of theory and practice keeps things engaging and he provides helpful tips and exercises for practice at home. Highly recommended!
So far my 13 year old is happy after two lessons, lets see what he will be able to put into practice himself. What I do like is that Jeremy gives a feedback to me after every lesson on what did they cover; and the points to observe and gives my child the techniques to learn and memories more efficiently. The teacher is also punctual, which is always a bonus:)
Excellent teacher! Competent, patient, adapts to the level of his students. Offers all kinds of exercises and new skills to keep learning interesting and always fun. Thanks Jeremy!

My 7 year old daughter had the chance to take a few bass lessons with Jeremy. He knew how to arouse her interest and showed a lot of patience, kindness and pedagogy. I recommend without hesitation!

After only a few lessons with Jeremy, I can say that he helped me progress more than I was able to achieve in 2 years trying to learn the bass through Youtube videos… He helped with the theoretical aspects as well as with my playing technique. He is very methodical and adapts to your needs and requests, and he also provided me with homework and very helpful tips and practice exercices. Highly recommended!

Private lessons in maths - physics - bio - methodology
Having obtained my Engineering degree in June 2018 and currently working as a Software Engineer in an IT company, I want to share my knowledge acquired during my studies with people of all ages in the Brussels region. My goal is to help my students approach the subject from a different angle so that they feel more comfortable and confident. I adapt my lessons to everyone by combining theory, exercises and practical examples. This period is ideal for getting up to speed and possibly adopting a new work methodology. This can allow you to consolidate your bases for the coming year or to prepare in the best possible way for a catch-up session. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

Preparation and Coaching for the EXMD / Medical Entrance Examination
the EXMD, entrance exam for Medicine now passed in Competition is now slightly more complicated. The subject of this exam is specific and requires a teaching of logic and not the simple recitation of courses learned by heart. Indeed, it is professors of Medicine who create the questions of the competition and seek to make the student reason and reflect in order to classify him. There are 4 science subjects: -Mathematics -Physical -Chemistry -Biology These four subjects are essential to master because they will follow you throughout your first two years of Bachelor. And 4 non-scientific subjects: -Ethics -Empathy -Reasoning -Communication These subjects are based on fairly simple principles and a lot of logic, which is sometimes not innate! I obviously teach for the 8 subjects.

mathematics physics or chemistry lessons from primary to university
I am a civil engineer in construction and during my career, I made a specialization in chemistry, physics. I give lessons in everything related to science: math, physics, chemistry... I have been teaching in Belgium and even in England since 2015. Generally I ask the student to give me the material he wants to work on and the best thing is for him to prepare his questions so that we can move forward faster instead of being blocked and at the risk of reviewing parts that he has already understood. (Although I once had a class where I completely re-explained the teacher's syllabus.) I also ask to become familiar with the material and nothing is better for that than doing a lot of exercises.

Mathematics and Science for Secondary Education
Mathematics and science subjects can weigh heavily on your study career during secondary education. It is therefore important to perform well on this. This can be a challenge for many students, especially in the third grade. In my lesson I try to explain the subject matter to students based on their own course, my old course and extra exercises. The ultimate goal is that the students gain a better understanding of their course.

French high school: mathematics (private lessons for all levels)
Hello, after two years of preparation for Henri-IV, I joined CentraleSupélec (Paris), where I touched on quantum physics as well as fundamental math, before realizing that I also liked to transmit this knowledge. In my classes, the objective is to understand in order to succeed. Often math loses us because it seems too abstract. To move forward, I help you make it all visual and clear, using images, analogies and tips. I will also help you identify the key notions for high school, the definitions to know absolutely, the real utility hidden behind a property. We will work on the classic methods, the writing that works, the reflexes to get by in front of an exercise. You'll see, high school math is like knowing cooking recipes.

Said
Mathematics courses for primary and secondary students
My course is aimed at people who have difficulty in the following subjects: - Mathematics - Physics I try through my course not to solve your homework so that you have good grades but above all to teach you good logic, the spirit of synthesis that must be developed in order to be able to be independent afterwards.

Hounaida
