Violin lessons with focus on music enjoyment and effective practice for a nice development in every level / style.

With these violin lessons I would like to transmit to the student my knowledge with violin, as well as the passion for music. It is easy when learning an instrument to get frustrated because of the difficulties, but with a balance between good habits and focus on having fun with expressivity, it ensures that the student enjoys the process and improves in the results. Open to all levels and music styles, in my lessons students will experience an open playground or lab, where they find in the violin and music a great source of creativity.

In addition, with my experience for many years and a bachelor of music in violin (Codarts), I will work to establish in the student proper habits for the violin to ensure the optimal conditions, but always with fun, no matter the expectatives with the instruments ( mild hobby, amateur, professional).

Duration of lessons: 60 min is a regular lesson. 30 min lesson possible for children ( young children usually do not hold longer periods with focus in the beggining).

About Me

I am a 27 years old violinist who studied both in Spain and Rotterdam. I see myself as a very energetic and positive person that works to learn more every day. I have always been a music lover, listening to the great classics voluntarily from really early ages. Because of that, music has been my passion. I love the intensity that can be found in the expressivity of music ( all styles). Now I would like to use all this energy for others, to share the same enjoyment that I have.

Because of my experience studying music, I have seen several educational patterns. To sum up: Music teaching sometimes focuses too much on effort and sacrifice, forgetting the main reason for music, enjoy!. After dedicating my final bachelor research in effective learning, my approach tries to create a real enjoyment of playing, where the learning is a wish of the student, avoiding frustration while establishing the optimal conditions for playing an instrument. This enjoyment is in fact, an optimal state for better performance.

With this in mind I see myself as a very open person / teacher that adapts and explores together with the student. I would like to implicate and know my students to create a special link with them. In the end music is a very human thing, and sharing its sensitivity is one of the best ways to enjoy it!

Learn Music! Violin/viola, Piano, Music Theory, Harmony,
Have always been eager to learn an instrument? have you started in your school years and now want take again that violin repertoire? Do you want to start from beginning a new hobby with music? My name is Stefano and I am a freelance viola player. After studying viola and composition in Italy, I moved to Rotterdam to complete my Master degree at Codarts, which I obtained in 2018. As a freelance musician, I devote most of my time to chamber music and orchestra playing, collaborating with orchestras such La Toscanini di Parma, Sinfonia Rotterdam, FOI Bruno Bartoletti and others. I had the luck to follow lessons and masterclasses by amazing renowned teachers (such as Julia Dinerstein, Alexander and Mikhail Zemtsov, members of the Rotterdam Phil, Maxim Rysanov, Simonide Braconi) realising how the teacher-student relationship is so important and fundamental for the all-round growth of the individual. They taught me that, beside being a form of Art and a job opportunity, Music is pure enjoyment for both mind and soul; its strength is the possibility music gives you to learn about yourself, to express your emotions, to connect with other people, and all in the most enjoyable way ever, which is MAKING MUSIC! How cool is that? :) If you want to start discovering music with me, I offer Violin, Viola, Piano (basic to intermediate), Music Theory and Harmony classes. I offer lessons for: - beginners - amateurs - preparation to exams - tutoring Contact me to book your first music lesson!

Rayén Estraviz
Viola or violin technique, practise methods, musicality and body awareness.
As a viola player, I specialize in viola lessons from beginning to a more advanced level, but I also can teach violin to beginners or intermediate. The method I use is first to adapt to the student's wishes and then find a way to achieve this within a relaxed and healthy relationship with the instrument. This approach is based on technique and of course making music! In this lesson we could also work different styles, as I like to experiment and I find important to expand your knowledge and have a wider idea about expression while making music.

Toby
Violin lessons, intermediate - advanced (in English, German or Russian)
I am a professional violin and viola teacher based in Zurich, teaching in person at students' location or online, in English, German or Russian. (Reviews below) As well as instrumental teaching and ensemble coaching of at all levels over the last 12 years, I’ve led numerous professional workshops, including ‘Music First’ and ‘Music Masters’ workshops in London and was an assistant on the Primary Arpeggione viola course and at the Springgrove music competition. As a member of the European String Teachers’ Association, I participated in their conferences across Europe. I have prepared students for music exams at all levels, working with them on music theory, aural and sight reading skills, and regularly accompany students on the piano. As a performing musician, I perform internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, recently including at the Victoria Hall in Geneva, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and Philharmonie in Berlin. I’m a Tillett Trust and Villa Musica artist, winner of the Małopolska competition, Barbirolli Prize at the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition and Len Lickorish Memorial Prize at the Royal Overseas League International Strings Competition. I hold a masters degree with first class honours from the class of Tabea Zimmermann at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, and Bachelors with the same distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in London. * Reviews * Stephanie W. Toby is an outstanding instructor and works with children very naturally. My 11 year old son has been taking lessons with Toby for over two months and is eager for each lesson. Toby is extremely talented, but beyond that, he engages my son deeply with the music itself, fundamental techniques, music theory, and even the interpretation of the music. Toby is kind, encouraging, and works with students at a level that is appropriate. He has allowed my son to chose music that if fun and interesting to practice, even though the pieces are challenging. In fact, I often sit in to listen to the lessons, as they are so good. My son has had a couple of lessons with Toby while company has been over, and everyone has commented on how amazing Toby is as an instructor. I can not recommend Toby enough and hope to continue lessons with him for a long time. Pamela B. Toby is really a great teacher who teaches the pieces well and brings out more of the feeling in the playing. We particularly liked that. Good technique is one thing, but feeling the music is such an important element in music and learning a piece of music. He also teaches theory very well! Tatyana M. Toby is a fantastic teacher. He is very reliable as he is consistently organised and punctual. I constantly see progress in my child’s music skills because every lesson Toby delivers is effective and well-structured. I highly recommend him to all who wish to learn or improve on their music skills. Shaun W. Knowledgeable and frank, Toby was able to provide me with crucial information quickly and efficiently. Hanna S. Toby can explain things very well and understandably, is patient and friendly and easily adapts to the student's level. Jacques R. Toby is an excellent tutor with top teaching skills..he teaches music theory in a way my 12 year old son understands the lesson easily; Toby is very attentive
