English conversation, writing and grammar, both formal and creative with an emphasis on visual culture and current affairs.

I am an English native and a published author who lives in Paris, France. I am bilingual with the TEF naturalization certificate to my name. I provide lively conversation classes on a wide range of subjects with a cultural slant and an interest in current British affairs for students wishing to improve their English language skills and grasp of British culture. I work with students of all ages and can specialize in requested areas. I work hard on clear British accents, enunciation, British spelling and grammar. I also provide tuition in written work, formal and creative and enjoy guiding and correcting, giving a solid foundation to students' understanding. I encourage fluency, assured communication skills, good use of the wonderfully broad English vocabulary and the confidence to speak English well.

About Me

I am a British citizen born in Zambia to English teacher parents. I was educated in the UK and studied at Edinburgh University, graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art in 1998. I have since had the chance to live briefly in Italy, and Spain where I taught English conversation to young people working in international business who needed to improve their spoken English skills. I then had the opportunity to move to New York City where I ran a small art gallery working with artists from all over the world. I am now settled in Paris where I work as a painter, translator and English teacher. I am a published author with a monograph for Tate London on the South African artist, William Kentridge to my name, and numerous reviews for English language art journals in print. I have translated texts for French artist's book publisher, Captures éditions for nearly 10 years. Alongside my work in writing, translating and teaching in English, I am a painter and printmaker and consider my rich cultural and literary life a compelling component of my English teaching.

GMAT tutoring and business school admission coaching
Do you want to join a prestigious Business School or an MBA of excellence? Graduate of LSE and student at ESSEC, I give courses of preparation to the GMAT (personal score: 730, 96% percentile) as well as entry to the Business Schools and the selection to enter the best MSc and MBA (preparation of the online application file, motivation letter, letters of recommendation, preparation and rehearsals of interviews). Courses are given in English in full for the GMAT. During the first appointment, we set the objectives and the learning or admission strategy adapted to your needs and weak points. For the GMAT, I give you strategies that help you increase the speed and accuracy of your answers as well as better understand the logic of the exam. I also help you practice your math skills as well as the reading and comprehension part of the exam. The GMAT is a must test to integrate business schools, but it is not the only criterion. To get admission, I help you create a perfect record, find the best way to apply, prepare for interviews and get one of the different income or merit scholarships that are offered. I give lessons by Skype and at home, I can also move to your home.

I am a Spanish teacher for several private business preparation schools: HCE, ESCP, EDHEC, SKEMA, EM Lyon, BS, etc., Master Preparation, LV1 LV2, written and oral training, interviews, etc. I have a Master of Philosophy and more than fourteen years of experience in home tuition (for beginners and advanced students of any age). I help adults and students who wish to earn points average at school and earn their Bac diplom. I always try to adapt to the tastes and personality of each student, working on subjects that allow them to regain confidence in themselves. After a short test we will determine all your learning goals (school setting, occupational or recreational). If this is to increase the average at school, we will develop a training program focused on grammar and vocabulary. If you must acquire a lexicon related to your field of activity, we will organize role playing sessions and scenario. Thanks to my language skills, I was able to tutor in Germany and France for German, English or French. I also organized chat sessions for adults. We'll work with grammatical exercises and pronunciation. But I also use complementary methods such as movies, music etc. I provide all the necessary equipment.

Mark
Professor of National Education, author of school textbook, 24 years of experience.
***** Availability update made on 09/01/2020. Valid until further notice ***** I offer you my services in order to make you truly effective orally / in writing in English. If you have to use English in the course of your professional activity and you don't get comfortable with it ... If you are tired of being spotted immediately as French ... If you don't know still not when to use the present perfect / preterite .... I'm here to help you and make you progress. * Linguist by training and author of school textbook in this capacity. Note that I am not this young student who had a good mark in the Baccalaureate or this other who is supposedly bilingual. I have been teaching as a teacher in the National Education since 1995 and I can tell you that teaching cannot be improvised. It is not an activity that we do "like that". I offer you my expertise and my experience. By the way, to have 10/20 in the Baccalaureate, it is enough to have the A2 level (which is theoretically expected at the end of 3rd year) so I let you imagine the desperation of future engineers who must obtain at least 750 in the TOEIC! (the equivalent of level B2!) * Daily monitoring possible via internet. * Each course is prepared according to your needs. Feedback is always given. * Specialized in "phonology": intonation, word accent, connections ... Oral grammar. * Adaptation to all levels: from college to post-baccalaureate through high school. => Post-bac: preparation for TOEIC, TOEFL, iELTS, Cambridge First-Certificate, Advanced Certificate. => Orals and writings from grandes écoles such as ENA => Orals and writings from business schools (Tremplin-Passerelle ...) Please do not hesitate to contact me for further details.
